Reliable or not, putting all issues aside, anyone can share what exactly are the unique or plus points about the B01, in terms of the features and characteristics, as compared to other movements out there, that made Breitling proclaim it as the best Chronograph in the market?

70 hours power reserve is great but I think B01 is not the only one with that(eg, Daytona). What about 70 hours power reserve on a movement with chronograph and date complication? The main feature about the calibre 01 that attracts me is its "open construction" that allows the addition of more complications on it for future developments. The open construction also contributes to pleasing aesthetics, when the watch comes with a display back. It gives off a very "raw" visual appeal, unlike most movements that are pretty much "covered up" by a few major components.

Instantaneous date change is good but to my understanding most in-houses out there also have such features. Auto centering reset hammers, well, till now I still cannot 100% understand the benefit of it, except that it eliminates the need to do a manual adjustment on the chrono, which is more for the sake of mass production. Don't really understand the customized index regulating system too. Seems like many unique features are more for the benefit of the watchmaker or manufacturer and not so much on the user. Nevertheless the calibre 01 is still my favorite movement till date.

Anyone has more info to add about its unique features?

Not really I think you pretty much covered all the bases here. I think it's definitely one of the top chronograph movements currently available on the market along with the Rolex Daytonas movement.

My doubt is whether it has any unique features that we don't find in other movements. Features like instantaneous date change are quite common in many in-house movements. I am not sure about the rest of the features as to whether they are common to have.

B05 is my favorite movement, and it's basically the B01 with the outer city and 24hr discs attached. Very smooth running and accurate. You have to love in house Breitling. I know I do!

The instantaneous date change may be a common feature, but the ability to set the date any time of day (idiot proof) is a less common and very useful feature.

Any watch with instant date change has the ability to set the date at any time - that's the point of instant date change, there is no 'danger zone' because there is no period where the date change gears are partially engaged.

Thanks! Did not realize that, as I thought there could still be an issue setting the date when the movement builds up the required energy for the instantaneous date change.
