Post subject:  SE Finally Arrived!!.....and some LE Ordering Info too...

Well the Aerospace Special Edition finally arrived!! It was a long wait, but really worth it...took some "rough" photos right out of the box (the protective plastic is still on the bracelet in some of the shots I know...didn't want to take it off until I re-sized it. At least the bezel is aligned... Re-sizing took some time too. As others have said previously, those little screws are tight! While I had the bracelet off, I took a few shots with my rubber strap and custom leather strap on the Ling too...just to get an idea of how it would look. I will take some additional shots this weekend when I have some sun as better lighting.

You can see in the photos that we had a custom dial made with our group's logo (that is an EA-6B Prowler with a tailhook underneath), and we had custom engraved casebacks. I think they both came out well and I am very, very pleased.

Now on to the SE ordering info for those that are interested:

Breitling has done many SE Aerospace models, and we have a couple of folks in our group that have one from a slightly different organization. That is what initially gave our organizer the idea. He made initial contact with BUSA in December of 2007, so about 11 months ago. One issue he ran into was the file types for the artwork. They wanted vectorized files and did not make that clear initially. Because these were new images for them, he had to provide all new artwork. Bottom line is that he contacted them in December 2007, and had the images approved by February 2008. The guy that coordinated the whole buy (38 total) submitted everything in early March and was notified in early May that they needed the new file types which took some additional time to obtain. Delivery was in October for the first batch and November for the second batch, making the whole process about 10-11 months. Obviously we lost some time in the process with artwork issue. Breitling advertises 6-7 months from order to completion, which they were true to after the artwork was sorted out.

As I said, I am very happy and could not thank our coordinator enough...he did a great job! Again, more photos to follow with better lighting and more time this weekend.

Randy

The personalized case back might very well be the single coolest thing I have ever seen on a watch. Wear it proudly Commander, and Thank you for your service to our freedom. :usa:

I can only agree with the other's comments.

A great looking piece, and how much do I now want an official Breitling with my own name on it!!!!!!

Something tells me you're not going to be selling that one in a hurry! :D

Brilliant stuff.

Thanks everyone!

Driver, you are right...this will not be sold!!

BoneDoc, thanks for your kind words too - 20 years and still going...

P.S. Roff, you'll have to add us to your list, if we qualify...they aren't numbered, but there were 38 made. Since this jet is going away, I think this will be the first and final order!

I am trying to get information about Breitling's SE Aerospace model. We heard about these watches back in 2007 when word got out to our squadrons, but were not in a position to purchase one at the time. My husband is an EA6B NFO and after 27 years in the USMC is retiring this fall. I think this would make a great retirement gift! I don't even know whether it's in the realm of possible to locate one these days, but came across this forum while doing some research. If anyone has any ideas or information as to whether they are still available, I would greatly appreciate help/information you can give me. Many thanks!
