I just noticed that the minute hand sundial on the chronograph of my Chronomat B01 randomly jumps ahead a minute sometimes. For example, after 55 seconds of the second hand sweeping, the minute hand moves ahead minute, and then after the second hand crosses 60 seconds, the minute hand moves ahead another minute.

Questions:

1. I've only had the watch about a month, and is this something that will settle down after time? (The watch is new stock, but it's from 2011)

2. I bought the watch on the grey market from an online jewelry store (Chronostore), and they have a three year warranty. Should I send it to them to work on or send directly to BUSA?

Thanks!

It shouldn't happen and it won't fix itself. Grey market warranties are useless other than for replacement as grey market dealers don't have access to genuine parts. Personally I would try and get my money back if you only just got it, or at least exchange it.

Very sad n disappointing. The B01 doesn't stop impressing...

As others suggested, get it exchanged or get your dough back. All the best!

I still haven't heard back, but worse case scenario, is this something that Breitling will fix during the $750 maintenance?

They said they can take a look at it with their in-house "watch expert," and that it probably just needs a minor adjustment. What do you guys think I should do?

Well I wouldn't let their 'expert' anywhere near it. Service at Breitling will identify the problem, may be additional parts cost to fix.

They claim that their watchmakers are certified by breitling. Is it possible that this is true?

Not if they're grey market.

Hey guys, thanks for the response. I've actually decided to just keep the watch. I knew when I purchased it that it would have to go into Breitling for service in about a year, since its from 2011. Also, I never actually use the chorine function, and I got a really great deal on this watch. Hopefully, they'll just fix this issue when I send it in next year.

Its just frustrating that an expensive watch would have an issue like this, but I knew in advance that the B01 movement tends to have issues.

I purchased a Chronomat 01 when they first came out in July 2009. I've had nothing but problems with the chronograph. It's been to BUSA 4 times. The most recent trip BUSA replaced the entire movement. As you probably guessed by now, even that movement has problems.

The issues with the B01 movement are widespread. You're certainly not alone. I stopped sending mine back because Breitling was clearly inept at fixing it. It needs to go in next year for the 5 year service, so I'm anxious as to how it's going to play out. If they want me to pay for a major movement repair, you can imagine what my reaction is going to be :guns: .

You're in a tough place with a grey market watch. I'd personally get a refund on it, as Breitling now has a 5-year warranty on B01 movements, but they have to be purchased from an AD. Save up the difference and get one from an AD. At least that way you'll have some recourse if something goes wrong. Currently, Breitling will not honor any warranty, given where you bought the watch from, and you may be looking at a big repair bill come service time.

Its crazy, but I've been monitoring the issue, and over the last few days, it seems to have fixed itself. It no longer skips. I have no idea what could have brought about this change? Maybe the watch needed to settle in? And I wish I could have bought this watch from an AD, but I only spent about $4000 and don't want to spend what an AD would charge.

It hasn't fixed itself. There are often times I can't get my Chrono to misfire even when I try, but it the issue always come back at some point. It sounds like it's not too serious of an issue right now. Ultimately, you have to make the call, and it sounds like you're going to keep it. That's fine, but just know that you may be hit with a major repair bill in 5 years' time.

Thanks for the response. So assuming the issue will return, you don't think it will be covered during the standard $750 maintenance?
