Post subject: | Cockpit B50 problems - solved ? |
HI All, Some of you may remember from my introduction post that I'm waiting to buy a Cockpit B50 until I'm fairly sure the problems with that model are solved. I've done some reading here and on the WUS forums and the signals seem to be positive. I'm talking about these topics: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57156&start=75#p413145 http://forums.watchuseek.com/f15/b50-he ... 178-3.html Especially in the topic on WUS someone writes about a software update and recall a few months ago. Do you have any thoughts of experiences to share on this ? Does that mean that if i order a new one and don't take one from the stock an AD may have I'm pretty safe ? Thanks in advance. |

Hi there.. Your concern is fair. I'm a huge fan of the design language but my earlier B50 did put me on a tight spot for a while. It's been a while since that recall started and some early users who've sent their B50 to the brand are happy and satisfied since the piece is functioning perfectly after returning. Now, it's obviously sorted out but you'll have to be cautious because retailer/AD/boutique could be having one or more B50s from some old stock but shiny and brand new on display which could give you hiccups. New stock should be good, obviously! My B50 in blue dial is 4months old but not manufactured 4 months ago. Initially it gave me hiccups but now it's behaving itself. The dealer showed me documentation that it's been sourced directly from the brand. That's the only reason, I'm putting in money on the LE B50 in cobra yellow dial since it's newly manufactured and problems are sorted out from their side for some time now. So, speak to the seller, avoid pieces which were manufactured more than a year earlier & take an informed decision if you love the model. If you still can't make up your mind, then you can wait for the B55, if that interests you. But then, you never know what problems that initial run could have with all the Bluetooth and quartz complexities!! Just my 2 cents. Do post after you purchase it...Enjoy pEaCe ![]() |

My B50 is a May purchase but I don't have the manufacture date. It has been near to flawless but for the fact that at about 30% battery life, most functions shut down. That may be perfectly normal but I have never checked the manual. The answer to that, of course is charge it more than once every month and a half... |

Thanks for your replies. Jon K wrote: I'll let you know when mines back from being repaired in Switzerland. 9 weeks and waiting Thanks for the offer, I'm indeed very interested. 9 weeks sounds like a very long time, i'm sorry to hear that. Do you have any indication on when you can expect it back ? New stock should be good, obviously! My thoughts exactly. From other posts here I understood it's quite common to get a choice between a watch in stock (if available) or one ordered from Breitling, is that true ? In that case I'll be happy to wait a few weeks and let them order one at Breitling. If possible I think that's the safest option. Feature wise I do like the B55, but I don't like the looks of it in the pictures available and the fact that they only speak about an iPhone app so far. If they release the details of the communication protocol between the phone and the watch I'll be more than happy to write my own, but my current impression with Breitling is that that won't happen. termite wrote: My B50 is a May purchase but I don't have the manufacture date. The manual indeed describes different levels of operation, but most of them state "The digital functions are operational", so that doesn't seem to match your experience. |

Remember they've paid for the stock and want to shift it. Not inconceivable that they'd say, "you want another one?, sure, we'll order it in", and then ring you five days later saying it's in and giving you the one they had all along. Or am I too cynical... If it were me I'd order it from an AD which told me they didn't have one in stock, then I'd know they'd ordered it in. |

I just noticed the typo in the subject and corrected it ![]() TomP wrote: Hmm, depends how much you trust the dealer. Remember they've paid for the stock and want to shift it.
