Post subject:  BREITLING PRICES SLASHED? FALLING SALES QUOTED THE REASON!!

I was at the AD today (I got strap change for my Black SA) and was checking the availability of the SA - since 3-4 months back when I bought mine, they were a scarce commodity.
The salesman said - There are quite a few SA's available and in fact they have DROPPED prices by 6-8%!! I had NEVER known Breitling to drop prices!
PLUS their usual 15% discount off retail priced anyways stays.

He said the EURO and CHF depreciation have caused the price slash.

He also said that they are seeing extremely slow sales last 3-4 months - probably half of average sales of last year.
REMEMBER this is Dubai - Shoppers' Paradise and always full of tourists!!

Apparently sales are dismal and not very many Lings have sold so far.

How is it for the rest of you guys in Europe, Asia and the Americas?

Saw on TV that there's price cuts on luxury goods in Europe and Scandinavia. Was recently at my local AD looking at a Navitimer World and the AD offered me a suprisinlgy good deal. :?

It's sad but true... I hear about official dealers that give discounts to first time clients : this has never been seen before over here ! Especially Breitling, Omega and Zenith seem to be selling very slow these days. No discounts on Rolex, Audemars (off-shore models, the classic models do get discounts), Panerai and Cartier. Recession, it's a bitch

I have been offered really good deals from Banks Lyon in the UK. I got the Blackbird down to below Govberg prices

I highly rate them, excellent prices, however, my local AD managed to just beat them today and they had the SA I wanted in stock, but I wouldn't hesitate to use Banks Lyon again, they provide a very posh insurance certificate a few weeks after purchase too!

If you went back to Banks Lyon with your AD quote they would of beaten it. They are really touting business.

They probably would, but I feel the price I got was very near the limit that any AD would offer, plus in my local AD's favour the watch was in stock and on my wrist in no time!

Your dealer may be offering an additional discount of 6 to 8% but Breitling has not lowered their prices by that amount. Trust me on that one...

I bought my Chrono Cockpit in Belize for $3600 USD and my local AD said that was a good deal.

Well, actually my wife bought it but you get the point.

Can anyone offer an opinion?

MTA: I see my exact watch on Prestige Time on sale for $3500.

If the watch is on a bracelet, it looks like you got a 30% discount off list. IMHO, 30% off list is a good deal although not necessarily an uncommon one.

Little to no extra discounting here in London, despite everything. The wealth gap here is vast, and London has more than enough Arabs, Russians and hedge funders with more money that God to soak up the supply. London dealers have no need to discount, etc.

Different situation here in Canada. Not many Russian Princes or Arabian Shieks. Lots of farmers though that have never heard of Breitling. Bad for Breitling AD's but good for consumers' prices.

Yes, it is on a bracelet. As long as we didn't get ripped off we are happy and it looks like we were not.

My AD says Breitling has remained pretty constant for them. Other brands have slowed down and the deals are really good on them. If you're looking for a Zenith, let me know since their sales on them have been really slow and they're looking to move a lot of pieces.
