Does Breitling have a logical system about which models get the second hand with the "B" and anchor symbols? It looks like it's reserved mostly for chronos.  What about adding it to divers? Attachment: Breitling B and anchor second hands.jpg Keeps nautical elements together. Or am I dreaming too big?  dams-r-us |

I have been using my Avenger as scuba diving watch and I for sure don't want chrome hands on it so for diver watch it means black or white hands preferebly with lume dot/key. My M1 chrono doesn't have the B/Anchor on it's second hand and Seawolf & M1 second hand looks identical..  For the clarity, I prefer not to have the B/Anchor hanging on the second hand tail as it will be sweeping over the sub dials. Though M1 second's is in 6 o'clock sub dial so I'm not sure if the chrono seconds hand with B/Anchor would actually block anything. Anyways, I like mine as it is... |

There is a B/Anchor on the second hand of my Galactic 41 which is not a chrono. I don't know why it's there, but I love the way it looks. |

There is usually no logical thinking at Breitling beyond the hand shape choices. One example: the beautiful Chrono Superocean (introduced in 2003) had a B/anchor second hand with no lume, while the CSO II. which came after this one does not have the B/anchor but has lume... There are plenty similar illogical things at Breitling: the Chronomat Evo (from 2009) and the Chrono Cockpit (a few yers later) had a polished transversal stripe on the hour hand only and did not have on the second hand. Later the Chrono Cockpit 2.0 striped hand was replaced by a beautiful hand set with no stripe on the hour hand. The CSO I. had the polished stripe on both hands (IMHO the only acceptable version if both hands do have a similar stripe), while now the CSO II. has the stripe only on the minute hand, and a few models nowadays (CSO II., Chronospace automatic) have the lume on the short part of the minute hand too, while does not have on the short part of the hour hand. All of these are unacceptable in my eyes (except if stripes and/or lumed shortpartofhands are on both hour and minute hands). I have e. g. a beautiful Chrono Cockpit but let some 5-10 years ago the hour and minute hand replaced to the 2.0 hands set which is beautiful and does not contain disbalance like the hour hand with the stripe... I wonder why Breitling does not pay attention to the chronograph visibility either. Back in the old days  the small dials had the needed contrast, or at least we could choose contrast color combos too: e. g. on the Avenger: white chrono counters on dark blue or black small dials, or on some older Chronomats: blued small hands on gold or silver small dials. Now practically every small hand somes in polished steel (or gold if matching) color, which is nice but much less readable. I have Ling from all of these so I can see the difference. The way best readable chrono subdial is on my non-Breitling: the IWC Aquatimer Chrono Cousteau ref. 376706 is unbeatable on this. Almost as readable as a central minute counter... The only similar Breitling hand was used on some Crosswind models if I remember well, with a narrow lumed white strip on the small hands. That is a hand set in the proper direction.Excuse me for being so long and partially stealing the thread. Best, Robert |

My Chrono Superocean and B-1 both have the anchor & 'b' on the second hand. Interestingly the non-chromo superocean did not have them. |

My two Navitimers have the B and anchor on the second hand. Far from being a diver. |
