Hello everybody .
I am currently looking for a chrono avenger M1 , and due to my concerns about fakes I have only been considering watches with boxes and paperwork .
Last night I read an online article written by a guy who had a genuine watch and a fake watch .
The fake was good !!
This got me thinking that if a watch could be manufactured that closely to the original , it wouldn't be that hard to also make fake papers and boxes .
Is this something I should be concerned about ?
Is there any way to tell if paperwork is fake ?

I've done a fair bit of research into fakes over the last couple of years as they have started to get so good that I thought I'd better educate myself to avoid making a nasty (and costly) mistake. In all that time, I've never seen any convincing fakes of documentation or boxes. It appears that most fake-purchasers just want the look of the watch to wear on their wrist, and therefore convincing boxes and documents aren't high on the faker's lists, so the fake docs and boxes out there are very poor indeed and hence easy to spot.

In actual fact, it appears that it's only a very small percentage of fake buyers who buy them with a view to knowingly trying to fleece people by selling them as real. Most appear to just like the look of genuine watches, but either can't afford (or perhaps pay for) the genuine item.

There are fake Breitling papers, the early versions are all for Crosswinds so easy to spot, later ones have COSC certificates with incorrect edges and folding, again easy to spot - especially if you post pictures in the replica section. In this case, there are no quality fakes of the M1 so it's less of an issue.

Once I worked for the company making titanium parts for the external and internal implants and producing high precision Ti parts is something not everyone is able or capable of doing, this leads me to question why would someone spend effort doing fake Ti M1?

Here is my two titanium Avengers

Image

On that photo, the M1 came just back from full overhaul so it's shinier than the Seawolf...

Is there really that high market for the fake Ti watches that one could make money out of it while the product would be actualy so good it could be compared against original?

I checked the link and that Seawolf replica is interesting (so to speak) and from many font (rehaut & date) issues, the helium valve sucks most and bracelet clasp "nickel free"? Man that's special Ti indeed eehhhh

When searching e73360 and sea wolf the fakes start appearing on the 2nd and 3rd google page .
There are enough out there that people are making money on them , and they sell for a remarkably cheap price !!
I dont really have a problem with this as it has gone on forever with most expensive items , but what I do have a problem with is sellers passing these items off as the real thing .
I've seen a couple of "bargain" titanium breitling with bad photography advertised the last month or so since Ive been looking to buy ....
I'll admit I'm tempted :)
The chrono I'm looking for is a gift so must be boxed etc but if I can find a cheap beater sea wolf or chrono I'll have it as well for myself

Ive just posted a couple of grainy photos in the fake forum if you could please take a look ?

Unfortunately there are really good fake watches everywhere, especially on eBay passing for the real thing....but even in the grey market you still don't know as a consumer what your getting exactly.

You aren't going to get a fake from a reputable grey market dealer. You may get a customer return and / or reconditioned watch, but it will always be real from the main players.
