I personaly find the trend of rubber bands on swiss watches disturbing, they look and feel cheap to me. I was wondering if the enthusiasts over here agree or disagree? |

NO Way, Rubber straps belong on CHEAP CASIO's or other CHEAP, DEGRADED watches NEVER ON A LING. If you get one of those Super Ocean's at least get the steel mesh band. |

I recently went to the Mets v Braves game and I saw a man with a Ling Colt w/ rubber strap. Personally I thought it looked like shit, he tried to act like he was showing it off I could tell by how he was angling his hand towards my direction. Then when he went to get food he got a shot of my Montbrillant Olympus, I saw his face turn red with envy. haha |

I personally would not wear one, but on some dive watches they serve their purpose. Barracudas, sharks, and eels sometimes like a little bling underwater too well. ~Brian |

Ah - but if they're good enough for 007 then they're good enough for me!!! Actually if you buy a Big Bang then you don't have a choice!! The Omega rubber strap for the Planet Ocean is not just some cheapie thing but bloody expensive! And the PO does actually look very nice in rubber - better than the steel strap some would say!! |

I'm with Admin and a few of the rest of you on this one - I can understand them from a diving perspective, but on an everyday watch? 'Fraid not! |

it depends, now lets talk about other brand of a beautiful watch and also more expensive in cost, PANERAI, i dont see the panerai watches beautiful unless its with a rupper strap (thats me), BUT at the end people are different tastes and different choices. best regards, Mahmoud |

I'll admit I hated them because I never tried one on, but I have one currently on my Super Avenger and it feels amazingly comfortable. |

If you've ever been diving you could see there merit, takes me a while to get salt deposits off the bracelet...but it's time well spent not wearing the rubber you wear it more out of the water than in it! |

Had one on my first Breitling - a Colt - which I bought in the 80s. The strap lasted me a real long time, and I like the look it gave the watch. I am having my 10y-year-old SuperOcean refurbished now, and instead of replacing the steel bracelet for over $400.00 I am going to try the rubber. I also like the leather. I am planning on a new Cockpit soon, and the dealer will give me a good trade for my SuperOcean, so I chose to go with the rubber this time. Cheers, Carl |

Well, I just picked up my SuperOcean, which was in for a major service and the steel bracelt (PRO I) had packed it in after 10 years, missing a link and unbable to be fixed. I opted for the rubber bracelet this time, the new PRO II is over 400 bucks, so I can always get it later. I am totally blown away by how great this SuperOcean looks with the rubber bracelet! I think that I even prefer it over the steel one. It is black, and it really sets the black face of the watch off nicely. It is nice and thick, just like the body of the watch, and the shiny stainless steel clasp with the Breitling logo looks outstanding. To me the rubber strap is a beautiful accompaniement to the lovely watch. I was actually going to leave the watch at the AD, thinking of trading it for a Cockpit, in which case I would get a value for my SuperOcean, buy the new watch and not be charged for the servicing. However, I was so impressed by how the watch now looks like new, and the appearance with the rubber bracelet, I decided to take the watch and wait to upgrade to the Cockpit later. So, after this long-winded disertation, my answer is YES I do love the rubber bracelet. Admittedly, it may not be the appropriate strap on every watch, but for the divers watches especially, it looks great. I think the Windrider Cockpit is better with leather, or the Pilot strap.
