I've never shot a gun before, but tomorrow I will for the first time; I'm excited to be going to a shooting range! I'm probably going to stick to pistols.

I wear my Navitimer 01 every day and everywhere (besides places in/on water) but I'm wondering if the watch is better left off for this trip.

As always your input is appreciated!

G-forces aren't as bad as something like golf (at least not where the watch is), but best practice will still be to leave it off.

I do Combat Shooting, means about 3.000 - 5.000 shots/month.
Especially in case of the powder smoke i would suggest to leave your watch off.

My pistol forum colleagues love to debate this issue. Most consider sports quartz OK for shooting, and avoid delicate auto/mechanical for heavy calibers and/or lightweight pistols. You're probably OK with .22 lr pistols, but put the watch away if it's .357 mag, .40 ACP or .45 ACP. Recoil depends on pistol weight, caliber and to some extent the design of the pistol. Probably best to put the Navi in your pocket.

Enjoy your range time!!!

Rolex wearers love to tout how many big caliber rounds their watches have endured!!!

Do Rolex wearers use their watches for target practice?

I shot a lot of 9mm through a Glock 19 while wearing my Cosmonaute; also pounded a whole bunch of nails and rode hundreds of hardcore miles on a rigid mountain bike. None of it seemed to bother the Cossie...

I ended up wearing it for most of the time I was there. My excitement made me forget about my watch concerns!

However when I tried out the .357 my sense kicked in and I remembered to take it off!

Man was that an awesome experience! And I'm grateful that watch seems to be A ok
