Post subject:  Cost Of A Dial Change

For those of you with grand ideas of a nice cheap dial change for your Breitling...... think again!

Basically a member on here brought to my attention a nearly new TT Legende he'd found in the States for the tiny sum of $4500. It's pretty much 'as new' with all papers etc, BUT the only downside (for me at least) is that it's got the bronze dial, and I only want the black.

So this morning I thought I'd check out how much a dial change would cost at Breitling, and was told........... £613.77!

They also said this could only be done as part of a full service which would cost an additional £310.00.

So, $4500 currently equates to around £2900 (which is a superb price for a TT Legende). However, add a bit for P&P to th UK, and for what my bank charges me for making a wire transfer and the cost goes up to over £3000 in total. Then add 17.5% VAT which is £525 + a little more on import duty, which takes the price to approx £3600. Then £923.77 for the dial change/service, plus a bit for the postal insurance to get the watch to Breitling and suddenly the price is well over £4500 GBP........, which is more than Swisswatchstore's brand new TT with the black dial from the factory!

Very disappointing.

So there we are. If you're tempted to buy a watch with the wrong dial colour and think you'll just swap it out later, be prepared for a BIG bill.

That is is such a coincidence... I also am looking at having the face replaced on my SuperOcean Professional... quoted a price from AD @ $800 - $900....OUCH. Personally I cannot understand how 1/3 rd the cost of a watch is the dial. The list price on a 2000 SOP was around $2700... so 900 is a full 1/3rd that cost.
