Post subject:  Second hand accuracy help.

Hi there. I own one Quartz Breitling and I have noticed the second hand is slightly off the second markings on the dial. Not on the small sub dial but on the main dial. I spoke to my AD about this and apparently this is an condition on all watches. Does anyone know the technicalities of this ? Is this normal and why can't they get the second hand to line up 100% with the dial. I have a brand new B50 and it is a fraction off.

Well one or two members will claim that it's not true for quartz watches, but any analogue watch has to have some 'play' in the running train to prevent the gears from binding. That play will result in some free movement in the hands and the longer the hand the more obvious that is, resulting in the hands not always aligning perfectly with the markers. It's perfectly normal.

Emile, I thought we had agreed you'd just enjoy your watch ?

Lol WatchFred. We did. We did. I am just interested in the why. Roff's explanation makes sense to me. Plus I needed to know from the expert ! (And that he is). Roff did you use to work for Breitling at some stage or still do ?
