Has anyone got any info/opinion on these other than the usual Breitling marketing stuff on the website?

I have the chance of picking one up brand new from an AD and I like the idea of the 24hr dial. I know there was a poster from the US on here a while back that was looking for one and I think managed to pick one up, but certainly in the UK they are not at all common as I don't believe many AD's had them in/allocated. My 'local' AD was pretty dismissive but then they always are with anything that isn't in the cabinet that they would prefer to sell you.

I was going to hold out for a B50 but have read the issues with these and already have two Quartz Breitlings (three if you count the better half's Oceane) and the costs for keeping these going has gone up significantly in the years I have owned; the B50 'worries' me a little as a supposed in-house movement.

The Mil is something quite different in a quirky way and not something I'd wear as a dress watch (I have my SO for that, or my Ti/Au Aerospace) but has something about it that I do like. Also in a limited run of only 500 ... does that make them more 'desirable' in the future? And not too sure about the DLC but always liked the look of the black watches.

So, would it be a worthy addition to my growing collection or a complete waste of money?

Edit: Deal now done and the Military is in my grubby hands (and on my wrist). Very cool and pleased with the deal

Will try and get a couple done today - had a jaunt back from a far distant Breitling dealer yesterday to collect it and it's now safely sitting in my winder

SWMBO doesn't like it though - says "it's ugly".

Since this piece is geared to Military folks they should have no problem. I spent 25years in the service and all my cheap digital watches where set up for 24hr time. Also many countries use a 24hr clock.

Living in a country with 24hrs locale may make it easy to read 24hrs digital watches. But I imagine getting used to a 24hrs analogue dial is not that easy.

@vulcanpilot: Looks great on your wrist! :)

I've said this before but I never had any issues with the hours on a 24 hour dial. The only thing that I had to do a double take on at first was the minutes.

It's not that hard to read, but then I suppose I've used some weird 'instrumentation' in my time. Ever seen a pre-1980's British/RAF cockpit?

Considering its size, it's very comfortable on the wrist; moreso than my Seawolf, and in fact as it's on a fabric and leather strap it's a bit lighter too.

Am considering getting a Black Steel Mesh Ocean Classic - the same as fitted to the new Chronospace Mil. I'd have considered one of those but I didn't want 'another' quartz watch. My (new but distant) AD can get one in for me at a fairly reasonable price, but slightly concerned about whether it'll scuff up. I have a spare strap on order too as again it was a good price with the watch and I'll keep that safe as if I ever sell it on, I'm sure a prospective buyer wouldn't want a manky strap.
