My 2002 superocean runs erratically! It runs fast when not worn, maybe a couple of minutes a day, but runs faster when worn, as much as 15-20 minutes a day. Anyone know what may be causing this? |

Welcome to BreitlingSource. 15 - 20 minutes a day is a problem with the hairspring, most likely caused by it being magnetised. It doesn't entirely explain why it is different off the wrist, but first step will be to have it run through a demagnetiser and then timed - a 5 second job. It may also need a service, you say that it is a 2002 so is about due for its second full service about now. |

Thanks for the quick response. Demagnetiser? Where would I go to have this done? I am not sure what the service history is like as I have not had the watch very long. I was going to put in for a service but was a bit worried that the cost would be more than the watch is worth if it has something seriously wrong with it. |

Any watchmaker can demagnetise the watch - doesn't need to be a Breitling AD if one isn't local because it's a non invasive process. The watch needs servicing every 5 - 7 years, that's the cost of owning it. If you don't know if / when it has ever been serviced then the evidence that the watch is providing suggests that it needs one now. Delaying it is only going to result in higher costs once it does get serviced - running a watch with no lubrication is not a good thing! |
