1) It can be - it's 'just' metal 3) No. Breitling used to frown on it in the past, but are more tolerant these days. |

rtalwar wrote: 3. if i do this, would that void my factory warranty There is a risk Breitling may have an issue. To do this right, the watch should be disassembled and that would definitely void the warranty. You will at least need to take the bezel off in order to polish the case well. Don't forget that the bezel mechanism is also covered by warranty. I see as risk. |

I love Breitling's polished finish and actually wanted a polished finish when I was hunting for a Chronomat as my first luxury watch. However I ended up with a brushed finish because the dial combo, the transparent caseback and the LE factor became the primary motivation for the purchase. However as time passes I discovered the beauty of brushed finish and was so happy and relieved that I got one brushed. Now I love the textured look of Breitling's brushed finish, it gives off a high end look and just the right amount of blink for a good wrist presence without making it too visually "loud". It also ages better so that it will still look good on you many years later. Not forgetting that it doesn't look that obvious with hairline scratches as compared to polished which would be harder to maintain. Cleaning the watch is also a challenge for polished as it also catches fingerprints easily and hard to completely clean off. IMO polished finishing on a Chronomat also gives off a more luxurious look since it's more visually "loud" so it kind off loses the sporty appeal a bit. Therefore when it comes to complimenting attires, full polished finish might not look that "blend in" with sporty or extremely casual outfits, unlike brushed finish that blends in just nicely with any outfit. Imagine yourself wearing a full polished Flying Fish for diving...somehow not as versatile IMHO. The fact that the sides and the rider tabs on yr Flying Fish are polished is good enough because you have a combo of 2 different finish which makes it more unique. Polishing it will take away its original look so my suggestion is to keep to your current finish. You won't regret it;) |
