Post subject: | Question about the reference number on my case-back |
Hi guys, I've just joined this forum and was hoping to seek some clarification on the reference number of my Navitimer Montbrilliant Datora. I bought this watch from an AD in Hong Kong. I've been reading some posts here and under the reference numbers section, and I noticed that these watches have different serial numbers on the case-back from mine. They all seem to have, for example A2332212/B635 (i've taken this from the reference Number Dissected section of this website - only for illustration). However, my case-back reads A21330 and then beneath that it reads a seven digit number (2427980). Could you please tell me whether this is an alternate reference number system of Breitling? Should i be worried? Many Thanks, Yousuf |

The number A21330 refers to the specific model of the watch while the seven digit number below it refers to the "serial number" which should match the number on your COSC certificate. The "extended model number does not appear on the back of the watch and also includes references to dial color and bracelet and or strap information. Congratulations on your purchase and welcome! ![]() |

Many thanks for the clarification and the warm welcome! So does this mean that all Datora's have a serial number on the caseback instead of extended model number? Only specific models include extended reference numbers? Seperately, I'm learning the sliding rule and having a ton of fun with calculations! This watch is a great conversation piece! Again, thanks for your help! |

No Breitling has the extended model number on the caseback. All Breitlings have the regular model number and serial number. |

It means that the model number stamped on the case back has six characters with a serial number typically stamped under the model number. With reference to the "model numbers explained " article http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_refnos.shtml "The number consists of six characters, which appear on the caseback followed by six more characters which signify case finish, dial color and dial design." Only the first six characters appear on the case back. In the case of the Datora these are A21330 as correctly stamped on the back of your watch assuming it is a steel model. BTW, if you have purchased your Datora from a Breitling AD in Hong Kong, I can assure you that you have no reasons to doubt it's athenticity. Had this been some small shop on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui or Temple Street night Market stall however...... |
