I'm still a few months away from buying my next watch, a black dial Steelfish, but I'm trying to decide on another strap option besides the pro 2 that the watch will have on it when I buy it. I was thinking either the Ocean Racer or a black leather strap with deployment. I've asked a couple members already but I'm curious to know about other's experiences with either strap. I do have a diver pro and also a leather strap with the tang buckle for my Colt GMT but have yet to try them out, my 6767F is shipping right now. Thanks for your help.

Justin

Ocean racer! The deployant is a work of art in its own right.

The leather with deployant is marginally better than the tang (some actually prefer the tang), but the ocean racer is miles better than the diver pro. Ive owned both, and there is no comparison. The diver pro looks like a toy next to the OR.

Having handled just recently a calf strap in black I was very impressed with the fit and finish of it, that would be the one I went for. I love the rubber but just do not like the sweaty feeling it gives when wearing it!

I have a black SOH that had a Ocean racer on it and replaced it with a leather strap w/deployant. I think the leather looks richer. The ocean racer has a awsome deployant, for me I would perfer solid strap with no holes. I also like the feel of leather, my favorite type strap.

Ocean Racer with deployant! I got one for my Steelfish a few months ago, and I love it. I also have the PRO II which came with the watch, which I am wearing now. They are both very comfortable.
I gave my camera to my brother, because I am hopeless a taking photos. However, I do have a link to a posting in the Gallery forum, where one kind soul - Ross, in Hawaii - posted some pictures of his Steelfish with Ocean Racer Strap. Here is the link, in case you didn't see it before:
http://www.breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/v ... acer+strap
I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy the Steelfish, and both the steel bracelet, and Ocean Racer strap.
By the way, I was almost going to buy the GMT. It was a tossup between that and the Steelfish. One of the main things that made my decision, was the fact that the Steelfish is just a bit larger, and the lug width is 22mm instead of 20mm like the GMT, the wider bracelet just seems to give the watch a more substantial look. I love the GMT as well, wish they would have a Steelfish GMT, that would really get me!
Cheers,
Carl

Ocean Racerer for me! Makes my AS look sporty as well as unusually elegant at the same time. Very comfortable to wear aswell.

In general I'd prefer a leather strap (especially on the deployant).

BUT

In order to be able to use the Steelfish as intended (ie in water) it has to be the Ocean Racer. Leather isn't working so well in water. I used to have a black leather strap on deployant for my SO, but as I could never use it on the beach/in the water I just had to get the OR instead.

Thanks for that link Carl. I've been searching this site the last few days for that but for some reason was never able to find it. I'm leaning towards the Leather strap, but I need to try on the Ocean Racer first. I'd love to hear anymore opinions from all the members who have either of these.

Thanks,
Justin

To me it entirely depends on the look (and function) you are trying to achieve. For a more classy/classic look, then it's leather all the way - no question. For a sporty look (and the ability to swim in it!), then go with the OR.

I generally agree with all comments made regarding both straps, although I would be bit a stronger than RJRJRJ's comment about the leather deployant clasp being marginally better than the tang - I'd say it's INFINITELY better IMO. Firstly it prolongs the life of the strap considerably, secondly it just looks far more classy, and thirdly it is infinitely adjustable instead of being limited to where the holes are in the tang strap.

But either way, both styles are great for they are designed for.
