Post subject:  Breitling 18k Chronomat Questions
Hello I am new to the forum..greetings to all.

I recently acquired a Breitling 18k Chronomat with Croc breitling strap and 18k buckle.

The guides to serial numbers indicate 18k K13048 . The 0 per the guides says non cosc certified..but the box and papers have a certificate with them??

questions.

1. Did they just certify the high end gold watches in this era and the serial number just doesn't indicate?

2. I estimate value at 5000.00 is that a fair number?

3. Any suggestions in the Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan area for reputable watch dealers to trade with?

4. Any good source for a extra long breitling leather band for the watch?

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

K13048 shouldn't have a COSC, does the serial number on the certificate match the serial number on the watch? I don't personally comment on values but others may, the FAQs suggest completed eBay sales and dealer asking prices on Chrono24 as a guide to value. For trading, you will do far better selling privately on the forums, eBay, etc but if you wish to trade Govbergs in PA are a very well respected forum sponsor who would be happy to work with you.

For straps, Breitling offers a long option that is an extra 10mm on each side that can be ordered through an AD, or take a look at some of the aftermarket companies. There are many of those with very different pricing levels, some of the brands mentioned in the accessories section might be worth looking at.

The COSC lists the movement number NOT the serial number of the watch

I believe (again I am no expert) would have to look at movement number inside watch to verify.

Perhaps I will find an authorized dealer and have him remove back and do some investigation.

Correct and typically the movement number is the same as the serial number stamped on the watch back case unless the movement has been replaced at some stage.
I would be having some doubts about the watch's history if the movement number did not match the serial number without some official paperwork that could explain it.

Right. In a new watch the movement and serial numbers are always identical. If the movement has been replaced then the COSC / movement serial will differ from the watch, but that needs confirming as a legitimate movement swap by Breitling to ensure that it's not an assembled piece.
