Skyland - bracelet wings-

So are the wings on the steel bracelet applied or inprinted....

I'd like to think there were applied since the face only has the painted wings.

Are they really? I'm surprised. I just assumed all current models had moved across to the applied wings on the bracelet. Maybe they've kept the Aeromarine range as engraved to keep the more rugged look...... Just guessing here.

Its possible they have updated it recently, but I havent seen it. As of my [late 07/early 08 --cant remember] manufacture date, they are imprinted.

EDIT: I think my manufacture code is 5207.

One other question for any Skyland owner...

I examined one at my local AD today and noticed that the start/stop chrono buttons do not have screw down lugs, at lease I could not turn them!
The watch is still rated to 300m so I guessing this a design improvement by Breitling ?


BTW, tried on a grey faced Skyland with brown calf skin leather... very nice indeed :o . I'm considering it over the Black with SS bracelet.

No, it's not a design improvement on the Skyland. If a watch like the Chronomat (with screw down pushpieces) is designated as 300m water resistant, it will still be 300m water resistant even with the pushpieces unscrewed. The pushpieces will only let water in if they are actually operated underwater as they act in a kind of pumping action and draw water into the case. The screw-down pushpieces are only designed like that to prevent accidental operation, underwater or otherwise. For example the SA is 300m WR and that doesn't have srew-down pushpieces. If anything the screw-down pushpieces on the Chronomat and Blackbird are just a greater attention to detail.

But either way, as long as you stick to the designed depth rating (which should not be too hard!) and don't use the pushpieces underwater (unless you have an M1 of course which is designed to allow full operation at depth) then your watch will be fine.

Thanks for that.... me thinks it is a bit od a risk to wear it in the pool playing with the kids..... I could easily prress a botton by mistake... hmmmmm.

I dont think its too easy. The buttons have to be pressed kinda hard.
