I'm a fairly new Breitling admirer (last 3yrs), but is this black steel a new trend. I noticed Breitling seems to be producing a black steel versions of each watch. Is this in response to the black coating being used on other brands (PVD I think)? I just saw the black steel Montbrillant, and I must admit I like it! ![]() What are the pros and cons of the black steel watches? Will ![]() |

Huge number of topics on this. Not really new anymore, they have been around for 6 years and it is just a form of PVD called DLC (diamond like carbon). It's more robust than most and it doesn't 'peel', but it is a surface coating and can wear or get dinged. |

I love the look but I guess I can't see spending 10,000 on a watch that is more fashionable. Stainless steel brushed or polished is timeless. One day when I become a millionaire and quit this public service job I can do that! lol Will ![]() |
