Currently have all gold bentley motors and have been looking for a second watch to add it in my collection. Noticed the local AD took off all bentley models due to the poor sale. Why do you guys think bentley models are losing its popularity? I know its been out for a while but still best looking sporty watch in the market in my opinion. Tried the Rolex sky dweller and yacht 2 but it does nothing for me... |

The designs are becoming more polarising, and the prices are very high compared with the obvious competition. There will also be people who are put off by the Bentley branding, and as you say it is getting very long in the tooth now - more than a decade. |

IMO the Bentley line does look great and somewhat carries out the essence of Bentley cars as well. They are sporty and have plenty of design features to admire at. However I guess the issue is that most consumers who go for luxury watches prefer safer looking ones that do not deviate too much from the conventional. They feel that if the design is too unique or modern, they will grow tiresome or "out of style" eventually. After all a luxury watch is not cheap so most would prefer a safer design that they know will not go wrong especially in the long term. The Bentley range has never fallen within my radar because I prefer iconic or flagship pieces that better carries the brand's essence and spirit. Bentley pieces are more like the "exotic" options for consumers who prefer to go for something different. I will definitely consider one if I already have all the classic pieces and want to increase the versatility. Unfortunately I am not that rich:( My guess is that you prefer something different and more distinct. Therefore just go for a Bentley(I mean watch) if you like. IMHO there is no such thing as a watch going "out of style". Clothes' designs can be in fashion and go out of style after sometime and if you continue wearing something that was in fashion years ago but no longer now, you can look pretty weird and out of place. But it never applies on a watch. We have many members here owning watches from decades ago that with one look, you know that they are watches from the past, but instead of looking weird or tiresome, they look absolutely cool! It's like telling the whole world that they are tough and have survived for a long time but are still functioning like new. Therefore rest assure that any watch that look good on you now will still look good forever. The only question that you should ask yourself if whether the design is something that you will like in the long term or just a short term impulse. It is very subjective and if you know that this is one dream watch that you will never get tired of then I guess it's the one for you. When it stays with you for decades and eventually passed on to your child, it becomes a timeless piece to your family because timeless comes from the sentimental value of it and not really the design. So your job is to take good care of the watch and ensure that it keeps running. Overall I am not into Bentley but unlike many members here who despise the current designs, I think they look great and in a class of its own. |

I will be the first to admit that at one point I was a huge Bentley fan. The watches were just big and bad ass so to speak. As my tastes have grown I prefer watches that fly under the radar and feel timeless and classic. For me the idea of wearing a 49-49 mm watch the older I get is just not that appealing. One thing that I did notice is a few years back they were quite sought after. There also seemed to be a large number of rappers and the urban community that really embraced them. It would appear that a lot of this sub culture has started to embrace AP. Not saying that's the reason but just something that I have noticed. |

All good points..only thing that bothers me is that people down play breitling in general.. Since i am shopping for a new watch, i get negative comments from jewelers all the time.. Reminds you that i am wearing all gold bentley while i am shopping..even with that, Jewelers talks about rolex being so much better.. Sorry for vent but just doesn't get the rolex buzz that it is so much better..i can understand if it was patek but c'mon.. Guess i am not sophisticated or old enough yet.. |

Most jewelers I've met don't know watches... or even jewels. They know sales. The jewelers on this forum would be an exception of course, but I would guess they would tell you the same thing. sent from my Note 3 |

With B 4 B you really have to swim in those circles. It's for people with a keen interest in what Bentley stand for. If you like the heritage & the vehicle then you will probably like the watch. I like the watch but I am not that keen on engaging with the heritage. So a B 4 B would not suit me but it will others. Where it's sold will depend on demographics. Not every AD will feel a sales surge for these watches when they are displayed. |

Which brand is better is highly subjective because it depends on what is better for a particular buyer's individual criteria. However, I am sure that jewellers / watch retailers are constantly asked which brand is better and if the choice is Rolex or Breitling I would expect Rolex to be chosen. 100% in house, almost totally vertically integrated (so manufacturing almost every part), etc. Does that make it the better brand for you, not necessarily, but better in objective terms, certainly from a retailer's perspective. |

I could say I'm on the verge of being a Breitling fanatic. Bentley range however does not do it for me. Why? I honestly don't know. The chemistry just does not seem to be there. Breitling to me represents sporty, chick, fun, care free spirit, a bit flirtatious or maybe even a bit cocky attitude and yes I like it like that ![]() The Bentley range represents a bit more serious or even posh flavour. You know, like holding a tea cup with that little pinky finger sticking up in the air, verging on snobbish. Not quite my cup of tea. Don't ask me to explain why and I hope I'm not insulting any B4B lovers here, it's just how I feel. |

No offence taken..i know exactly what you talking about... just funny how you put it tho.. ![]() Also, like someone mentioned before, watch is very trendy as well.. Rolex is hot one moment and then breiting, then hublot, etc.. But it just seems that breitling as brand does not get same respect as it should.. Anyways, thanks for all of your feedbacks.. |

It's just a watch. If you like the way it looks, you can enjoy it without any appreciation of Bentley cars or hanging in any specific circles. I will say that for some reason I avoided the brand for years. Perhaps I didn't understand the connection, or maybe they were out of my price range at the time. I don't remember. Heck, I still don't understand the car-watch connection. I don't get the branding, but I like the watches. sent from my Note 3 |
