It depends.....
If your local watch repair shop has access to quality batteries and proper case openers then it may be an option, otherwise I wouldn't risk it - the cost of a damaged caseback or a leaky battery would far outweigh any saving that you gain. Additionally, if the watch is close to the 5 - 7 year service window (or if it will likely be beyond that after the next battery) then it is going to need a service anyway, which only Breitling can do.
