 Post subject: breitling battery change

I have a Colt Quarts and the battery has just died...... should i go to an authorized dealer to change batteries? or can i go to any watch repair shop..... seems like anyone should be able to change it. thanks

It depends.....

If your local watch repair shop has access to quality batteries and proper case openers then it may be an option, otherwise I wouldn't risk it - the cost of a damaged caseback or a leaky battery would far outweigh any saving that you gain. Additionally, if the watch is close to the 5 - 7 year service window (or if it will likely be beyond that after the next battery) then it is going to need a service anyway, which only Breitling can do.
