Hello,

Hope everyone is well, I'm needing some valuation advice, I'm a (Part Time) Watch Trader form the UK and have recently came into the ownership of a Breitling Blackbird Lancaster Limted Edition of only 60 pieces (No.7) when I saw it and the full set I had to have it, however due to not a single other one for sale in the world Where Do I Value It? - it's mint, I think if its been worn 10 times in it's life I would be amazed, - it's the Full Set!

Any Idea's????????????

Chris

If you think you'll get a substantial amount over the value of regular A13353, you'll be disappointed.

Well I disagree, I think this is a lovely set, and I personally think it will do at least double a standard watch, but hey, i've been wrong before lol,

Wish you luck on getting the double value.

Over the years a few of these examples have been asked about here and almost universally the owners seem to think that this LE bucks the trend of every other logo LE out there (including the sister Mosquito edition) and is worth much more. I am sure that part of that is due to the fact that for some potential buyers there is an emotional connection to the watch, and I guess that it only takes one buyer for a sale.

However, in all of those years I know of no sales that have achieved anything close to the premium that sellers were originally looking for. It's also an interesting coincidence that the latest instance of this watch being inquired about here should happen just a couple of days after I finally banned a member who became personally abusive when I wouldn't pay his price of close to twice market value.

I buy a lot of limited editions and generally pay 10 to 20% more than a none limited (regular) version. As a rule there's generally a lot of negotiations when limited editions are involved because the seller usually wants way more than a standard model, and like Roff says, that might happen if you find that one guy with a connection that has to have it. I've been that one guy more times than I care to admit with limiteds. A few years ago I had a spare Lancaster Battle of Britain version of the Aerospace Advantage and couldn't hardly give that away and finally sold it for $1200 with box and papers. As a collector you're not looking for everyday watches but for something unusual, or in this case, limited. Definitely more collectable than a normal version but not exactly the holy grail from a value standpoint. Bought this limited last week and sent it off to Breitling for a service Saturday.

I have several Limited Editions and Special Series in my collection and all of them have a special and a sentimental meaning for me for one reason or another.
Having said that, I don't have any expectations that any of them will pull a special premium for two very simple reasons:

1. None of the ones in my collection are for sale.
2. I can see all of them on the market from time to time, some at crazy asking prices and some at very reasonable ones.
As I keep saying, "It is just a matter of time" and with a bit of patience one can get a very good deal.
On the other hand maybe/perhaps someone can hit a jackpot, as they say, there is one born every minute and it is "just a matter of time".

Hi Roff, I'm sorry but you seem to be putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 6, I don't know of any other debate about this watch apart from an item from 2008 which came about when I Googled the model, I came into possession of this watch last Saturday, so I promise you I haven't been involved about any discussion re this particular watch, and I'm the last person to be abusive, I'm very new to watch trading and a professional guy in my normal day job,

Hi,

I picked up the watch and it's the best Breitling I have had in my possession, I'm a sucker for a Navitmer, (and still am) and truthfully it's not the watch, it's the full set and the condition etc. that got my attention, anyway, I deal in 20% profit and have put it on EBay for what I see as a reasonable price, I don't want to take anyone eyes out and believe or not every dealer is not a dodgy car salesman ! - I like it, and if it doesn't sell, I'll keep it !

Actually I am not doing any math, I made a point of noting it as a coincidence.

Good luck with the sale.

I think Roff has commented on this before. I get you are trying to sell it but put it in the classifieds? I would think 3k USD would be the most I would consider, but I likely would get something else since I have a chronomat already.

That being said I don't have any connection to the LE as mentioned previously. Maybe try to seek out those with strong connection to the LE vs the brand if you don't like the answers here.

That was very close if not in breach of forum rules, making that reference to an eBay auction posting of your watch mate.
In any case, wish you all the best with the sale!
