Hey all,

My very first post but let me assure you I have been a long time follower. Perhaps it was because I do not actually own a Breitling that I somehow felt inadequate, an outsider, but perhaps this will all change soon with my desire to purchase a new Navi World with Black Dial and black calfskin strap?.. :lingsrock:

Having been in contact with an authorised dealer in Italy (I am in Australia) I have worked that with taxes/postage etc I can have it in my hot little hands for just over 6k AUD ($5600 USD).. I called my local AD here because lets face it, I would prefer the money to stay in this country as we have to prop up the retail sector as much as possible!

After starting at $7800 AUD ($7309 USD) he has agreed to a final price of $6200 ($58200 USD)

before I hit GO on this puppy I just wanted to put the facts to the experts and see what you guys think?

Any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome!

The World is a lovely watch, you'll love it.

If it were me, I'd definitely go too your local AD and purchase it. It's so much simpler "Should." You experience any issues with your watch. It's unlikely, but hey.

Also the worry about the watch in transit will be taken away, that alone is priceless. Also the timeless joy of sitting in the AD as he prepares the watch for you and asks if you'd like it in the box, or will you wear it now??

I know, when I bought my 1st, I wore it from the store, and thought EVERYONE was looking at me and my new love :) I was walking on air.

It's a very special feeling, don't deny yourself! It's simply not the same opening the parcel on your kitchen sideboard with a cooking knife…..I know, I have experience in these things!!!

Go for it, go too the AD. It's worth a few extra Bucks. I promise.

Plus, if you kinda mention it, you may even get a purchase present!!!

Good luck, I look forward too to the pictures.

Davey

I'm 100% with Davey on this. You would be a damn fool man ;-) not to go with your local AD to save 200 bucks and that's assuming you have done the customs duties, etc maths correct. Australian customs are brutal and that's putting it mildly.
You will be starting a relationship with your local AD if you buy from them. If something goes wrong, you will be well taken care of. You may want to get another strap or a bracelet later, they will remember you. You may even be looking for another piece later....
All of this is worth it in addition to the experience of buying as Davey said.
Go in there, make yourself comfortable, tell them you need some caffeine boost to stimulate your desire to part with $6K, spend 2 hours trying different straps, etc, etc... and enjoy being pampered :-)
We go out and drop 200 bucks on a dinner and after all it just another meal BUT with an experience ;-)
The risk of shipping is another thing. What if the watch is a returned piece from another customer or display stock that has been on many wrists and may arrive with minor scratches on it which you will not see until you open the box.
If 200 bucks meant so much to me that I would need to go this far, I would be asking myself if I should be spending $6,000 on a watch in the first place.
Wish you all the best whichever way you decide to go and do post that obligatory wrist shot once you get it ;-)

Ya, you're crazy not to buy it locally. Even if it was more than 200 bucks I'd still buy from the local dealer.

This is a no brainer; go for the AD. I would only buy from the grey market or overseas if the watch is difficult to source and/or I am getting a really huge discount far more than what the AD is prepared to offer.

As a fellow Aussie, I'd definitely be buying from the local AD. Wholly agree with the guys, go in, take your time, be pampered, look at strap options etc and then buy it. May also get some swag as well :)

You guys are too funny!!

Some great advice there and you will be happy to know it has been heeded. I just spent 2 hours with my AD talking shop, mostly about Breitling and its history etc etc, most of which I already knew but I just wanted to hear his pitch and you're right it, it felt bloody fantastic!

I decided to wear it straight away, and with some free swag dropped into the deal for good measure, I left the store feeling like a rockstar and looking for the nearest aeroplane to commandeer :popo:

I now feel worthy of this fine online community and look forward to joining in on some discussions.

Some snaps below taken 'in situ' at work with iphone so please excuse the quality..

Congrats and welcome to the club. Beautiful looking watch, and looks perfect on your wrist with that strap!

Congratulations - glad you visited the AD rather than ordering from abroad! That Navi is definitely on my WTB list.
