Post subject:  Breitling AD - no discount ?

Hi everyone,

My friend is looking into purchasing a new Breitling, so I recommended an AD where I purchased mine about 2 years ago. He looked around and found a beautiful navitimer world and was interested in purchasing it. We started talking about the price, and the owner told me that he recently re-signed with Breitling as an AD, but Breilting now does not allow any price discount, and this is applied worldwide. The best he could do would be to give us 2 or 3 percent off the retail price if we pay cash.

Has any else been told this ? I live in Canada for those wondering.

thanks for your input.

You need a new AD.

+1
Just got a Navi World from and AD and I got 12% off the watch and an insurance they offer included in the price which would equate to 17% off....I've heard of better discounts off retail than what I got.

Albeit an older model, an AD here in NJ was prepared to give me a 30% discount on NOS Chronomat Evo. Look for a new AD!

The US ADs are gun shy since being scolded by BUSA's president. But let's be clear, they were not told "no discounts," but to stop excessive discounting and secret shoppers - the watch world's version of the NSA - would be used. If you are a new customer, most US ADs will be hesitant to give you more than 10%. If an existing customer, you can still get a real discount but not like the "good old days" of just 3-4 years ago. If the model is discontinued, BUSA doesn't care and gives the AD free reign, which accounts for the 30% discount on the Evo mentioned above and the ridiculously good discount I received on my last discontinued piece. This is especially true because an Evo or Cockpit sitting NOS in the display was purchased at a lower dealer cost, so even if subsequent price increases bumped the retail sticker, the AD has less into the watch than newer pieces.

i am very curious to know which AD you went to in Canada. I live in Canada too (BC) and this has never happened to any one i know. Hell, i have been able to walk off the street into an AD i have no relationship with and been offered discounts on Rolex.

@boogiebot, I live in Montreal Canada.

Thanks for everyone's post, it confirms my suspicions that he's trying to pull a fast one on us. I have one other AD in Montreal, and it's Birks, and I know that there's not much wiggle room with their prices.

Yeah birks sucks! I would personally never deal with them. Call any other AD in Canada and I'm sure you will find somehhigo
