At the end of March I sent in my Aerospace for a servicing through my local AD. We agreed on a $300 limit for the service, and for them to notify me if it was going to be anything over that. I just got a call last week saying that B wanted to replace the crystal, bringing the total to $380. Now, the crystal was in perfect condition when I sent it in, so why do they feel the need to replace it? Just curious. I am also curious, for this amount of money, will they be doing any lubing of the movement (if it needs lubing that is)? Will they be taking the bezel off to clean it? It sounds like they are giving it a polishing, battery replacement, seals, pressure test, crown replacement (why do they replace the crown?), and a replacing a missing bezel screw. That's just what I remember from talking on the phone with my AD. What really sucks is that they told me it would be another 5-6 weeks before I get it back. I'm nervous they're going to mess something up and I won't see it for another 2 months if I have to send it back!

This is my first post on the forum, so hello everybody! I'll do a proper introduction with some photos when I get the watch back :lingsrock:

$300 sounds like a maintenance service which would include mechanical overhaul but not case refinishing. However, you say that they are doing a polish which would be a full service. Either includes oiling of the movement.

The crystal suggestion is likely because of scratched AR coating but it should be optional so you can choose not to have that done.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Which model Aerospace? Usually replacing the crystal is an option when sending to BUSA.

Replacing a crystal typically is a cosmetic optional item unless of course it is so badly damaged that water resistance can not be guaranteed thus preventing Breitling from guaranteeing their intervention for the standard one year period. In such rare case it may be mandatory to replace the crystal.

It is an 01-04 model. I did decide to get the crystal replaced while its there. I was just surprised that they wanted to replace it. The polishing was actually one of the primary reasons I sent it in. My AD said it would come back looking like a different watch, in a good way.
