| Post subject: | breitling emergency mission question |
hello i wonder if some one used the antenna and unscrew it in case of emergency,there is any way to screw it in again while its un usable? i mean,if i want to buy a second hand watch how can i know that the antenna is good and not used and just screwed in and its useless? thanks |

If the antenna has been deployed, the plastic ring under the cap almost always breaks away. That being said, the ring frequently breaks without the antenna having been deployed. It may have become snagged on something and just broken off; that does not effect the operation of the watch. If the antenna has been deployed, you could simply cut off the antenna wire and screw the cap back down. The only way to know if the antenna has been pulled is to use the tester that comes with the watch or press the button on the back with a pen and see if the display blinks... |

Highly unlikely that a deployed watch will still be in the wild. If a legitimate deployment Breitling will replace it, if false then the owner will be subject to fine and potential charges and the watch may well be taken by various authorities. |

Hate to say it but I have come across more than one deployed E for sale in the last few years. I doubt that any of the deployments were legit and if the antenna was grounded soon after it was pulled, no one would even be alerted to the beacon. In each case, the seller maintained that there was nothing wrong with the watch. My favorite was an ebay seller about a year or two ago who openly advertised an E Professional it as having been accidentally deployed [but not repaired though!]... |

If the antenna has been deployed, the transmitter is activated and cannot be turned off without grounding the antenna or running out the battery. Once it has been activated, it must go back to Breitling and it is expensive... |

For the Mission, it can be any Breitling Emergency civilian frequency tester; the testers are not keyed to the particular watch, just the frequency, which for the Mission is 121.5 MHz... |
