Hello,

I am new to this discussion so please indulge me if I am posting in the wrong place, asking stupid questions, or just stupid!

First, perhaps there is a location for the explanation of acronyms that I haven't found. Being a newbie some of this is Greek!

Second, I notice that members list their watch collection on their profile--where do you include that?

Finally, and most importantly, I'd like some opinions: Currently I have an Aerospace (blue dial) with Co-pilot bracelet that I've had for about 4 years and really like. This is my daily wear. I like the new Aerospace Evo! So my questions are: (1) could I switch the Co-pilot bracelet from my existing watch to the new one? Do they look identical? (2) I am torn between selling the existing Aerospace to reduce the bite of buying a new one or keeping it too. Is there any collectible reason to keep it?

I appreciate the help!

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

General terms / acronyms in this sticky - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=16818
Sales specific ones in this sticky - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16819

Your signature can be edited in the User Control Panel - click on the link to it in the top right of the screen, click on Profile on the left and then edit signature in the dropdown.

The co-pilot bracelet should fit on the Evo because the lugs are the same width and the link on the north side of the co-pilot is straight edged. However, I would check the spring bar holes before committing to make sure that it doesn't rub or have too big a gap between case and bracelet.

Aerospace is a popular model and you certainly won't have trouble selling it if you want to, but future collectable value is going to be limited - it's ultimately a quartz watch with a fixed life and so while it may not lose much value, it's not going to gain.

I'm not sure about the pro 2 and the EVO. The EVO's bracelet is the pro 3. I am not sure if the older end links of the pro 2 would fit in the EVO. Best suggestion is to go and talk to an AD?

Yes, but the co-pilot links are straight edged so given that the lug width is the same it will physically fit - i.e. the bracelet will fit between the lugs without a gap. The potential issue is the location of the spring bar holes being different between the two models (height in the lug and distance from the case).

I personally would keep your current Aerospace. I am not crazy about the EVO model with the larger 43mm case, the skeleton hour hand and the Pro 3 bracelet whose looks I find boring and generic.

I enjoy the look and feel of the 42mm Avantage model. About 6 months ago I pulled the trigger on one of the last new 42mm models with Volcano Black dial and Pro II bracelet. Perfect combo imho and the piece has so far exceed my expectations. Truly a keeper.

The EVO only brings to the table the adorementioned cosmetic changes and I am not really sure if the EVO is truly an improvement over the outgoing Avantage unless you are a fan of bigger cases. The movement itself is 100% carryover from the Avantage so in terms of functions or accuracy you are not missing on anything.

I much prefer the aesthetics of the 2005-2013 Avantage over the EVO. Some will say the rider tab design has been improved and now the sapphire crystal is beveled as the inner bezel chromed ring has been removed, but I don't care for the bigger case, skeleton hour hand or "oysterized" Pro 3 bracelet.

To me the Pro 2 bracelet's slanted links give the watch character and are very Breitling.

If the watch has been good to you, enjoy it a few more years and revisit the EVO when Breitling refreshes it as part of its life midcycle.

(The Avantage was only 2005-6. From 2007-13 it reverted to being simply the Aerospace. See:

Tho it's true that most everyone calls pre-Evo Aerospace the Avantage.)

Thanks, everyone, for the information and opinions! Certainly a lot to think about. I did go by an authorized retailer and was able to compare the spring bar holes and location and, while I didn't actually exchange one for the other, visually they seem consistent.

Any further advice about on line retailers that are reputable and offer competitive pricing would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Online means grey market so none will be as reputable as an AD. You would be much better off sticking with a sponsor AD who can give you competitive pricing and the factory warranty that you won't get online. Govberg are highly recommended in the US.
