I recently bought two NOS Windriders;

It was a bit of an impulsive buy through the internet.
I don't like very big cases, so I searched for a smaller sized model, which these windriders are.
I have a 19 cm (+/- 7.5 inch) wrist and the white one is okay for me, however the watch with the two tone dial looks rather small on my wrist.
So now I am thinking about selling the watch with the two toned dial and buying one back with a larger case + dial.

I know myself and I would probably wear such a watch for a couple of months and after that would want an upgrade to a more expensive or nicer watch.
So besides buying a model I like, I would want it also to be quite stable in its price range, so that I don't loose too much on it, whenever I resell it in the future.

Models I like, are;

Breitling Crosswind;

Breitling Chronomat with this specific dial;

And the yellow Breitling Tricolori;

Can anybody shed a light on the price stability and populairity of above models?

They are all older models so the prices are fairly stable now - price is being driven more by service history and condition rather than age. The tricolori will be less appealing to the masses because of the colour and the specific LE connection (that either appeals or puts people off) but that will apply equally well to purchases as to sales.

Thanks a lot for your contribution.

So now I am aware that the yellow tricolori isn't that populair and would be more difficult to sell, when I want to step up to another model.
If I would make the choice, it should be very interestingly priced or otherwise leave it alone.

Resale value and whether or not you will loose (a lot of) money reselling it largely depends on how much you pay for a piece. This may sound very obvious but if you buy from a dealer , that has a lot of overhead and employees to pay, you will obviously pay more than when you buy from a private person

In my experience , the 2 smaller windriders you show are a little less desirable than the chronomats , bright / light dial watches are less desirable than dark dial watches due to legibility of the time (but that might just be me ;-) )



The vitesse and crosswind are timeless pieces , proven designs and (again my opinion) great watches. Whether or not you loose a lot flipping them depends on your initial spend ;-)

I agree on everything you say.
However it is much more difficult to find a trustable private seller as a trustable dealer.
Besides that a dealer usually gives a year warranty on a watch, which is also worth something.
And I have also noticed that prices per country can difference a lot.
Overhere in Holland there isn't much choice and the prices are higher as in other countries.

Not sure I buy the not much choice argument, you just have to trust long distant deals - and that had to be easier in the EU than some other places. eBay and the forums have great deals, heck just look at how active the sales section here is, and that's just one forum.

I think you misunderstood; With not much choice I ment buying within Holland (local).
I have no problem with buying abroad, I've bought the Windriders also abroad.
Only disadvantage you have with that; is that you cannot check it out in person before buying.
If you are familulair with the model it isn't a problem, when you buy from a trustable seller.
However if your not, you cannot fit the watch and see how it looks on your wrist.
