Dear All,

I have been reading your forum for a while now and it is incredible how much information and knowledge you all have
Thanks to this forum I managed to spot of few fakes and it saved me a few thousands bucks, so thank to you all for sharing

I have finally spot a great Navitimer 1461 which looks legit, has all the papers, box and the current owner is ready to have checked out at an AD which is always a good sign
As this type of watch isn't that common I have a few questions for all of you out there:
- This 1461 (ref A1937012/BA57) isn't Aurora blue back Black as you can see on the pics, does it has an impact on the value?
- What would be a fair price for such a watch as I have looked on Chrono24 for comparable models and it ranges dramatically from $6,000 to $12,000

Finally, on the more technical side, the time of watch is consider a perpetual and the date needs just to be changed ever 4 years but what happens if don't wear you watch for some time and it stops?
Can you restart it yourself and then adjust the date again or do you need an AD to do that?

Welcome aboard. I'm not sure what you mean about the dial colour affecting the value - there'll be nothing in it. Personally I prefer the black dial version anyway but that's a matter of personal preference.

It's very easy to reset it yourself if it stops - you certainly don't need to get an AD to so it. It's just a combination of using the standard time setting via the crown and the quick set pushers dotted around the case.

It's a very nice piece so good luck with the purchase.

And to clarify, it's a semi-perpetual, not a perpetual. It needs adjusting manually for February 29th (hence the name - it needs adjusting once every 1,461 days). A perpetual watch can handle February 29th as well.

Hi, I have this watch. Although it is a beauty, I can not read the date unless I am in an exceptionally well lit area. The date font is tiny within a complicated subdial. I'm old though.

The FAQs recommend checking completed sales on eBay and dealer asking prices on Chrono24.

I have already done that as already I have already said in my original post Chrono24 asking is between $6,000 and $12,000
The $12,000 is for a new watch but still it is a very wide range and as this watch is less common there is obviously less information

There's no "set" price when it comes to used watches : they're whatever price the owner decides to put them up for. Obviously that doesn't mean they will necessarily sell, and some people are best described as "optimistic" when it comes to pricing.

That said, (and as stated above), Chrono24 (and sold item listings on eBay) is a reasonable guide, so basically if you manage to pick one up for near the low end of the price range you see on Chrono24, you will have done well. Conversely if you pay near the top end, you won't have done so well. It's no more scientific than that really.

One thing though - the piece in your pictures is on the bracelet, so expect to pay a little more than an identical piece of a strap..... but not excessively so.

last ebay sales were between $7 - 8.5k, all pre-owned.
