I have a local guy who has a Navitimer 50th Anniversary with silver dial. He tells me that it is the only Breitling that is not chrome finished in 50 years for Breitling. Its brushed steel with an alligator band. It was bought from an AD and hes got all the paperwork. The watch is in great shape and looks sharp. He's asking $3400 for it, I'm interested to find out some of your opinions on the watch and the price? I'd appreciate any help.

Nice watch but it's not the only brushed finish Ling, even not than when it appeared. Price in 2002 were 2,865 GBP on bracelet, 2,465 GBP on Croco, 2,305 GBP on Leather.

Its not the only brushed Breitling--its not even the only brushed navitimer. The Navitimer Fighters was also brushed, but that is out of production as well.
The limited edition chronomatic is also available brushed.

Ok, is it worth the price? Does the fact that it is the 50th anniversary make much of a difference?

Price is 'OK', not spectacular - the 50th anniversary is a special edition (one year production) rather than a limited edition and has a minor price impact. If you can get it closer to $3,000 it's becoming a good deal.

I would agree on all counts.
