Just wondering if there are any rumors about the price dropping sometime soon. Also how much longer will the E1 be supported, in terms of spares, servicing etc. |

Breitling's not in the habit of dropping prices so highly doubt that will ever happen. In terms of E1 support, Breitling has committed to supporting its quartz movements for at least 20 years after they become obsolete so the watch itself will be fine, but the transmitter is supported by Dassault, not Breitling. There hasn't been any commitment to length of support for that and I suspect that it will be less than 20 years. |

The basic titanium will be just over $15k and the blacksteel titanium will be about $2500 more, placing it in the upper $17k range |

Well, the E2 is completely outta my price stratosphere. Just wondering if it still makes sense to buy the E1. As an aviation professional (airline pilot) I would've imagined that Breitling would've maintained the same price point, so us salaried folks who actually fly jets could afford it! Ah well, c'est la vie, I guess.

It's the same price point as the Panerai Luminor Submersible Depth Gauge Watch PAM00193. I would rather have the B. One of my local AD's said this week that the E2 is delayed in the USA for 1 to 1.5 years! Claimed that the F.C.C. licensing approval of the transmitter is the holdup. |

I went to the Breitling Boutique in the mall a week ago the Emergency 2. I was told that there are some teething problems, size has gone up to 55mm from 51 and the price is now Dhs.60000 exchange rate $16438.35. The price and size have gone up. Also they had no idea when it would be available. Even with a discount for being previous customer it is still expensive. |

Ah well, c'est la vie, I guess. Ha! 737... when they say 'instruments for professionals' they mean professional athletes, the ones making several million a year,  . Unfortunately the prices are on a tear in the up direction these days, .How about an Aerospace EVO or Chronospace automatic? |

Just get an E1  You could buy one in each colour and still have money left over compared to an E2!

Transmitter/Beacon will work fine as long as the battery in it is fresh. Only need replacement parts for the transmitter if you use it, and as Roff has said Breitling will have stockpiled parts. |

The fundamental change is that the 102.5Mhz is no longer monitored by satellite, so can't be used to trigger a search and rescue response, unless an aircraft flying overhead picks it up and relays a message to that effect. When it was monitored by satellite, it was monitored 24 hrs a day, anywhere in the world, you didn't need an aircraft overhead to pick it up. The new E2 introduces a new set of transmission frequencies that are satellite monitored, so in theory you have a 24hr global response emergency monitoring solution. BTW it also transmits the 102.5Meg frequency, as thats still used to pinpoint your location from an overhead aircraft. |
