I just bought a Super Avenger and once home, after winding it, setting the date & time per instructions, I noticed the chronograph hands stopped at different locations, none of the 3 hands at 12. :( I tried the A button and the B button to see if the timer works or would reset, nothing at all happens. :( :( Is there a trick for getting a brand new Breitling's chronograph to work? :?: Any advice to solving this will be most appreciated. I'd hate to have to take it back and return it. LMK and thank you...

Do you mean you left it for the night, and then the next day the watch stopped? I don't really understand the first part of your explanation because there is no mention of pushing the top pusher to start the chronograph. If the chrono hands are not at 12, if you wind the watch they should start moving. There is no hidden tricks to it.

It the watch stopped, you still hit the top pusher, before hitting the bottom to reset. Wind it to see if they move, and if so, top pusher to stop time, and bottom to reset.

Nothing left for any amount of time. Out of the box the timer hands were not at 12 o'clock and neither of the buttons did anything (no start, continue, stop or reset).

ok let's start off at this...

If you wind the watch right now will it run, any part of it? Or is everything frozen?

Watch was wound the prescribed 40 times in position 1, date was set in position 2 and time was set in position 3. The watch runs fine (hour, minute and second hands that is).

The timer hands associated with the A&B buttons were/are set in various places and the 2 buttons do absolutely nothing to those hands (no start, stop or reset) when depressed.

Is this a new watch? It seems someone had the same experience as you, put it back in the box as is, and that's why the watch/subs were not reset to 12. I can't think of any reason why the pushers wouldn't work, well any reason that could correct them. I'm definitely not a guru with this stuff so maybe someone else will see something I missed, or have another suggestion, but it sounds like it plain and simple just doesn't work.

New as far as I know (from COSTCO). It was this store's display model (last one). COSTCO has a no-nonsense return policy so I am not worried about that. I'm just hoping that the issue is not an operator error is all.

Time Bandit - I appreciate your feedback and patience, thank you so very much... :D

anyone else? I'm using a $250 Wenger, should I just stick with it?

It sounds like there is something wrong with the movement. I would return it and buy one from an AD, it shouldn't be too hard to get close to what you payed, plus brand new with warranty.

Thanks for the feedback Mattc and Timebandit, I think that returning it is my only option all things considered. Have a nice weekend...

The most obvious answer is that you aren't pressing the pushers hard enough - if the chrono hands aren't moving then either pusher should work but the bottom one will reset them so try pushing harder (you won't break it).

The other possibility is that because you didn't buy from an AD the watch was a customer return that got fobbed off on the grey market (Costco) in which case returning it is the only option because you have no Breitling warranty.

Good morning Roff and thanks for your suggestion. I had tried that with a hard wood dowel up against the button while I held the watch. No change. I'm returning it today...
