I'm looking to purchase a new Breitling and can't decide between the Navitmer World vs. Montbrilliant Datora. Between the size of the dial (46mm vs. 43mm) and overall size, i'm not sure what the significant differences are... Any help and thoughts here would be much appreciated.

Also, I work in finance, is the Navitmer World (46mm face) considered too large/showy to wear on a daily basis and/or in front of clients?

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

The watches have different functions so consider what is most useful to you - the World has a second time zone function which is useful if you travel, the Datora has a day and month function and has a pointer date rather than a traditional date window. It also has a 24 hour dial, but that's not a 2nd time zone.

Can't really comment on what is too big in your environment, large watches have been common in recent years but look at what colleagues wear and decide for yourself. You need to try the watches on and see which one 'speaks' to you the most - the World tends to be more popular because of the 2nd time zone, and the Datora dial can appear 'busy', but ultimately it's your watch and as to be your decision!

I have not worn a Montbrillant Datora, but I have worn an Olympus. The watch was beautiful, but the size was a little too small for me. I have currently a black dial world and I have to say for 46mm it wears very comfortably on bracelet or strap. The dial is "busy" but in a good way, as there is a lot of information that the Wold can give you. Not loud by any means in my opinion.

The functional differences are well-discussed above. Size is still a matter of how it fits on your wrist and with Navitimer models, I think the dial color makes a lot of difference, lighter color enlarging the look and darker shrinking it. For some guys here a 46 looks great while on others, the 43 is about as large as they want. Personally, I think the World is more legible but for me too large. If you are surrounded by Rolexes, smaller is better if showiness is a concern for you.

Montbrillant 'busy' you say?
I think it's beautiful!

Although my next watch will almost certainly have a GMT 2nd time zone........

I've worn a datora in the finance world many times. I have also seen many worlds in the same environment. I don't think either one would be bad so its just personal preference and fit. I have small wrists so I have to stick with the datora.

I love the look of the Montbrillant but to small for me, on the other hand I own a blue dial and white dial navitimer world, love the watch and the 46mm size

I too had this choice and went for the World and I'm glad I did because it's a perfect size. I work in Financial Services too, and have had nothing but compliments on it. I feel if I went for the Datora it would have been too small for me.
