Hello All,
I am new to this forum and wanted to get folks opinion on my planned purchase of a Bretling Bentley GMT from Jomashop - here is the link

http://www.jomashop.com/breitling-mens- ... 919ss.html

I understand Jomashop sells new, authentic watches - is that accurate?

It is listed for $7895, 30% off retail - should that worry me?

Once I buy it, can I take it to an authorized AD dealer and get its authenticity verified and return it if ant flags are raised? Do dealers charge for that?

Also, I understand if anything went wrong with the watch and it needed service, I always have the option of going to a Breitling authorized (AD) dealer instead of Jomashop and get it repaired but I will have to pay for it since I do not get Breitling warranty from grey market. I read posts not to trust the Jomashop repair shop since hey might outsource it to someone. Are these grey market repair shops trustworthy?
I see that as the chief difference between buying froma dealer vs grey market - Breitling warraty.

Can someone guide me on what all questions to ask before making my purchase -
I undersatnd the following questions shoud be asked but need some clarifications:
- would dealer provide COSC - what exactly is it?
- would dealer provide Serial number - where in the watch would this be listed? Is that the A4736212-B919SS listed on the website next to the watch? Is this posted on the box as well to compare against?
- would dealer provide warranty card - no, right?

Please advise and let me know what else I can do to ensure I get a new, genuine, authentic watch

thanks so much in advance

jomashop has been around for a while so as far as i know are fairly truastworthy. So yes, you will be getting a new, authentic watch. No need to get an authenticity check and i wouldn't waste a dealers time trying to get one unless you are prepapred to pay for it. Be very wary of grey maket dealers that spring up overnight, a lotof them are scams.Do your research.

Yes, breitling will service or repair it but obviously you will pay for it. If jomashop repairs it for you i have no idea who will actually do it, but i doubt very much that it would be breitling.

cosc is the chronometer certificate and yes you should receive it.

The serial number will be on the caseback and on the chronometer certificate. It will also be on the warranty booklet but you will not receive that from jomashop.

Given that this watch has been superceded by the b04, i suggest you visit an ad and see what they can do. Youmight be surprised!

Lots of threads on grey market and in particular Jomashop that are worth searching, including this very recent one - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=51313

I wouldn't be so sure that the watch is new - ADs have been known to farm lemons / customer returns off to grey market dealers before. A grey market repair warranty is completely worthless because it's unauthorised and would not use Breitling parts, the only grey market warranty that is worth anything is a return one (and of course that further reduces the chances of getting a new one in the first place as returns will be resold).
