Hi folks:
I'm about to venture into owning a Breitling. I will be looking at used ones for now as that is how the budget is working. I'm particularly interested in the older Navitimer Premier as this is a style I really like. Does anyone have an opinion or better yet experience with this model? Is it a decent start? Looks like they are running about $2K +/- for a decent looking one. Anything to look out for with his model? Any other models I might want to consider? I have sort of small wrists so really can't wear much over 40 or 41 mm.
I have heard of quality issues in the past. Are there particular years of production to stay away from?

Premier is a nice piece, you might also want to consider the Grand Premier - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... er_50.html, still under 40mm. Those two are pretty much the only Breitlings with that look and are as reliable as any other. They weren't produced for very long so not a huge number about and just look for one with a service history and good condition.

this is a total long stretch. but is this the same Dr Doom from Dallas?

This DrDoom is from Mass. I always suspected there where more of me. hehe

I have both the Premier and Grand Premier, both working well have not had any hassles with them.
There are a couple currently on eBay.

After studying the ones on eBay, I hadn't realized that some of the Premier models have the date window.

Grand Premier has a date, Premier doesn't.

I was wondering about that. Does this mean this watch (see link) would be of questionable authenticity?

No it's real. I'd forgotten about that one - a not very well documented special edition version of the Premier with date.

In Chronolog 2 they are pictured with no date, in Chronolog 3 they are pictured with date.
I believe Breitling added the date complication to the Premier in the second year of production.

I found this Montbrillant currently on eBay, I think I like this styling more than the Premier, it seems to Breitling more than the other.
Could someone look at the back of it, should there be another line of code under the A30030.2?

There should be a serial number, but it may well be there, you can't tell from those photos. It is a lot shallower than the model number so you would need a much clearer caseback shot. If it's not there then on a watch of this age it was probably originally sold grey market, historically they used to remove serial numbers to protect the sourcing AD.

Aha, so that's how that works. Reminds me of buying Nikon cameras out of NYC: would you like warranty or no-warranty version?

So there is probably no reason to question this watch's authenticity?
