I have an early model Aerospace (Ref. 56059, Case # 80 360).......... Attachment: Breitling Navitimer Front small.jpg Attachment: Breitling Navitimer Back small.jpg B'Ling enthusiasts will note two discrepancies: > It has Navitimer on the dial and watch back. > The bracelet is not period correct. I purchased it in 1992 from an AD in NY city. It came with the gray leather strap (still have that as well as all the original paraphernalia). The owner's manual, AD invoice and document folder all indicate Aerospace. The BreitlingSource descripton of this model...... http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... al_23.html .............includes the statement: "The earliest models of this generation of Aerospace had "Navitimer" written on the dial. Later ones have "Aerospace" written on the dial." It appears that the current Navitimer line & style pre-dated the labeling of this early Aerospace watch as a Navitimer. How did the Navitimer label come about on this Aerospace? Has this cross labeled watch achieved a special collector status in hearts of Breitling enthusiasts...to the extent that a quartz movement watch can obtain such a standing? I have both a Breitling bakelite box and a faux leather/real plastic inner box w/ cardboard box. Which came with the 1994 Aerospace and which came with my 1999 Hong Kong purchased Breitling Intruder? ![]() I would appreciate knowing this little bit of entangled Navitimer/Aerospace history. In 1985 Breitling launched their new pilot watch the aerospace. From the early to mid 1980's they were called navitimer. Watch is perfectly real. Not sure about boxes. |

Navitimer branding is just one of those anomalies, no obvious reason for it. Bakelite is for the 99. |
