Good Breitling people, I am considering the purchase of something that will be the culmination of a dream for me. I have a wonderful collection of Breitlings, a steel Jupiter Pilot, a steel/gold Chronomat and the titanium Emergency Orbiter, so that leaves the ultimate, a goldie. I have seen a solid 18K Superocean complete with bracelet so it is the full works so to speak and would nicely complete my collection. It is from the year 2000. The price is good, but I am fairly certain it needs a full service. Could anyone give me an approximate price? I am aware the watch was the first ever 1,000 meter water resistance watch in precious metal that Breitling ever brought out, so this could be significant in terms of service cost. And of course it is solid gold anyway and I believe they are always more expensive; but then conversely it is not a chronograph version so this could bring the cost down a little - so the major aspect of the cost will be for the cosmetic aspect. Bear in mind I am talking about the full service, not just a basic overhaul. For reference I had my Chronomat done last year for £600, earlier this year my Jupiter had the full works for £400. I realise you can only give a rough idea, but if you can do this it might give me a bargaining point. At a guess I am looking at about £1,000; the watch does not come with documentation proving it has been done previously so I am assuming it has never been done. So it could be quite a job! |

Gold should be irrelevant to servicing costs, replacement dial parts / hands may be more. Go by the standard servicing costs listed on the Breitling site, additional costs for damage caused by the lack of previous servicing would be pure guesswork but I doubt that it will get as high as GBP1,000. |

A 35% surcharge applies to gold and platinum watches, here in Hong Kong at least. Check at the bottom of the service price list for any small print. |

It is most likely something along the lines of "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime" ![]() |
