....nearly!

Next July will be my 50th, and I have the green light for a Breitling.

Some history:

Several B1's (love them and always seem to come back to them)
Emergency (old style (and best version)
Super Avenger (white dial, MASSIVE WATCH)
Avenger Skyland (beautiful)
Chrono Evolution ( lovely)
Airwolf (kept comparing to B1)
Superocean Heritage (46mm, beautiful but not versatile enough)

To be fair, some of these have only been owned briefly, but all well appreciated.

I now know that I can't get away with anything larger than 43mm-44mm. No smaller than 42mm though

Need a clear uncluttered, easily readable dial for 50 year old eyes (good lume a bonus)
Something that will look equally good on bracelet, leather, and rubber straps in a variety of environments, (work and play) as it will be my only B

I have some ideas, Avenger II GMT, Seawolf II, but would really appreciate any other input, past or present models that might highlight something I've missed.

Cheers,
Nick

For a three hand model, the Avenger II GMT would be a good choice. In a chronograph, the older titanium Chrono Avenger or the Chronomat Flying Fish (all black dial, brushed finish).

Have fun with your hunt and good luck!

Avenger II GMT is one nice watch, that's the one I would choose. Or any Blackbird.

Last version of the "classic" Superocean would be my choice, but then I'm biased. I've got one, it's absolutely superb, it ticks all your boxes, and it's one watch I'll never part with.

I was thinking the same. Very good on all straps, bracelets, etc, and the most instantly 'legible' watch I've ever owned. Still some NOS around I think.

Y'all crazy!

Steelfish is the perfect watch for what you want :-P
Available in 42 or 44mm. Best lume on any breitling, easy to read, extremely popular/well respected and pretty cheap to buy second hand in good condition. :-D

Thank you gents for all your recommendations, they have certainly given me more options to think about.

If you have any more ideas please keep them coming

I'm off to drool over the pics of the Avenger II GMT that has just appeared on sales corner. :wowzers

I would echo the recommendations of hotmog and TomP, a keeper for life. But, if that is the one you decide on, just be patient as the A17360 really doesn't come up that often, especially the blue dial, which hasn't come up for sale in well over a year.

Andrew Michaels would appear to have some NOS examples of these in a variety of dial colours, including blue.
