Hi guy's i have recently purchased a Skyracer from a reputable company. After owning the watch for a few days i noticed a small chip in the lume on the 7 o'clock marker. I know Breitling would never let it leave the factory like this also there is no sign of the chipped off bit anywhere in the face of the watch. Should i be worried by this or am i just being paranoid :?

The watch is real if that is what you are worried about, can't explain why the lume is damaged.

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

You are not being paranoid. You will only become that after being on this forum for a while.

:welcome:

Always worthwhile asking here as someone might have knowledge about your circumstances and can help. :lingsrock:

Probably a manufacturing fault as I am sure it does happen. Hard to see from the pic what sort of chipping has occurred. Cracking, in my view would be due to drying shrinkage beyond the elastic limits of the lume, chips though would suggest delamination or a weakness in the lume at that point. I guess it would be repairable, but probably expensive. If it hardly notices then maybe stick with it and see if it gets any worse.

I have an Ikepod with perfect lume on the hour hand but virtually no lume on the minute. Its disintegrated around the face of the watch and is imperceptible to the naked eye. I know its there, as there is a small piece floating on the dial and the rest has (I think) statically charged itself to the face over a wide area of dispersal. The case has never been opened, so I can only surmise its location from observations. The watch is about 10 years old.............
