Post subject: | Avenger Skyland are second hands linked?? |
I have noticed two things with my Avenger Skyland with the second hand and was wondering if they are mechanically linked to the hour and minute hands. First I set the minute on the exact centre of the minute dot and with the second hand at the exact centre of the 60 mark. After a week of running I find that when the minute hand is again at the centre of the minute dot the second hand is about 12 seconds fast. I thought these two components would be mechanically tied together via cogs. Second, the second hand of the chronograph and the second hand of the watch also have error after a number of days operation when set together but I believe these two mechanisms are separate. Can anyone shine some light on this? Thanks Granox |

It's common to mechanical watches. The running time is connected through something called the running train that connects seconds, minutes and hours. There's a similar mechanism for the chronograph. However, because they operate by the rotation of wheels that are connected together there has to be some free play because otherwise the wheels would bind. That play means that the hands may not indicate exactly on the marks at all times - it's not an indication of a problem. Welcome to BreitlingSource. |
