This is a pretty random question, but I guess if you don't ask...

Do ADs expect to sell watches at a discount (or deeper discounts than what the store is offering at that time)?

When I bought my first Breitling they gave me 15% without me even asking for it (I didn't even know any better)...


Do you have to play the whole used car dealer game?:

"...can you do any better *wink, wink*..."
"...can I speak with your manager..."
"...the other guy said he could do this..."
"...the internet has it for this price..."
"...eh, I think I'll just walk away..."


Or are they ok with, "I'll take this one for 25% off the retail price. Thank you, have a nice day."

There are a lot of threads on this over the years. Discounts are not as readily available as they used to be - AD margin has been reduced and Breitling are clamping down and secret shopping. You can still get decent discounts but if you tell an AD that you will take it for 25% off then (in the US at least) the reply would likely be "I am sure that you would sir, have a nice day".

Treat them like professionals and they will reciprocate and give you a fair deal. In the US just save the effort and contact jnelson3097 for details of Govbergs - they'll be fair to you within the bounds of what they can do and will give you service that a large number of members have been thrilled by.

used to work with loans and always appreciated "i want this loan at this rate...".

couldn't always do it, but it gives a starting point, and i knew not to waste time talking about standard terms. almost no experience with the watch buying business so figured i'd ask. thx again
