Hello everybody,
I'm new in the forum and i have a question:
I really like the emergency 2, but my question is, is it a real life saver?!?!
Have you ever heard about someone been found and saved thanks to the watch or some of you tried to put some spice in his boring afternoon pulling the antennas?
what do you think?

Well the E2 is new, but the original has been involved in multiple legitimate rescues - some classified, some not.

Pulling the antenna because you are bored is a bad idea and will result in a $50,000 fine. I am not aware of that ever occurring.

I'd probably recommend going to the cinema or going to the pub, over pulling the antenna on a Emergency if you're bored of an afternoon.

What is not clear to me is how can the new one have such a strong signal in a so small watch!
I love it but EPIRB on boats are much bigger, same thing for PLB and ELT on airplanes. If it's seriously working like them, ofcourse I'm gonna buy one!
My question is because most of the pilot that i know has very normal watch like swatch! or not even a watch, and if i consider the pilots and sailers met till today, nobody told me something about people been resced thanks to his emergency.

The two pilots were in their lifeboat when a Chilean Otter aircraft found them after homing in on signals from their watches."

We had someone here a couple of years ago who activated his in a military plane crash and there are others - the very first Emergency was issued by Breitling as sponsors of the Mata Rangi expedition and was used when that raft ran into trouble.

As for not many people having one, well it's an expensive emergency locator beacon, and the new one is ridiculously expensive.

Exactly. Purchasing a G-Shock and a separate locator beacon will come in at a couple of hundred pounds/dollars, and will provide the same utility as an Emergency, albeit in two separate devices.

As a technical novelty (and I mean that in the same way that dive watches like the Deep Sea with a 3000m WR rating are a novelty), then the original Emergency was a real standalone piece, as it is very wearable, didn't cost the earth and may also save your life. The new one is also a technical tour de force, but it's even more of a novelty as it's hideously expensive, and undeniably HUGE.

I also like the Emergency 2 and I am considering getting one as a back up to my other things I carry when i travel, such as a PLB. As far as it being large, that depends on the size of one's wrist. I wear an Oris Prodiver Chronograph and that case is also 51mm. It also depends on how the watch wears.

$15,000 is a lot of money to spend on a backup!

I agree. Will be a tax write off for me. Lol
