Post subject:  Avenger Seawolf Poll

Looking for a beater, plus I'm a dive instructor so... the ASW makes sense to have :p

Here are the two Avenger Seawolfs, the 2007 and the new dial 2008. There are things I like about both and it;s hard to choose:

2007 - I like the uniformity of the dial graphics and numbers. Plus I have the matching wall clock and finally it is a bit cheaper. ($540 less in retail terms).

2008 - I like the metal wings.

What would you do?

Hmmmm, I can't vote on this as I think both watches have elements that I love, and elements that I don't.

For example -

2007 - I love the black numerals and hand, and I think the simplicity of the dial looks much more "tool", which is what I'd expect from a diver. However it's titanium which I'm personally not a fan of, and the lume areas are pretty small for a hardcore diver's watch.

2008 - I love the fact that it's steel and the countdown bezel is probably more in keeping with a diver's watch, but I hate the grey numerals with a passion as I think they look washed out on the yellow (what was up with black?), and while I like the stenciled numerals on the AS I think they are maybe just a little too "trendy" to have on the Seawolf. However the lume is better on this model......

So there we are - a combination of both would hit the spot nicely, but for me, neither model shouts loud enough for me to buy one.

ye i think the grey numbers are foul! i fell in love with the new 2008 because:

i love the brished metal on the top and bottom and the polished on the side's

big white numbers

silver wings logo

the numbered bezel

and the fact that the glow in the dark bits dont go that odd greeney yellow in anything thats not direct sunlight or pitch black, it stays white all the time

this is mine :o

I voted for 2008. I prefer the steel, and I think Driver8 makes good points about the lume and countdown bezel, given what this watch is supposed to be.

The stencil numerals don't bother me so much (I actually like them) but black would be better than grey against the yellow background. I also think titanium goes better with the yellow dial, but I wouldn't be getting yellow anyway.

Mario, I love them both but I like the real tool look of 2007. It looks like you want to take it to the depths of the ocean and then to the highest moutain. The 2008 is very nice but I think in the yellow dial.....its got to be simple and no flash.

This is mine in Jamaica.

I love that last picture! but why is the crown pulled out while in the sand??

Oh and by the way you might want to move up to a SPF 50 ;)

I'm a bit partial...but I do love the 2007 uncluttered look.

It's a great watch either way, with an almost unparraleled depth rating.

Good eye on that crown detail !!! I pulled it out to try and catch all the hands so that you could see all the detail to the dial. That is about all the sun I got, as it rained every afternoon....not one sunset and that sucked! We love Jamaica and this is the only time we have ever gotten so much rain. That clear ocean is just fantastic. When do we know which one you are picking???? :?: :?: :?:

The more I look at my wall clock, the more I want the 2007. I'll probably call an AD after I unpack. :)

My vote goes to the 2007. Steel is nice, but I really don't like that "all" watches tend to have the Skyland numbers and the geometrical shapes at 6, 9 and 12 destroys the dial in my opinion.

thought i would post the pics of mine on this poll because i think the yellow dial looks terrible on the 2008, much better on dark grey :o

I like the way that the 2008 atabics seem to fill the dial more, although I'm not fond of the batons, and as others have said the black is better than the grey. I love the concept of this watch, I just think that there are too many compromises for me on wither model to consider buying it - although I do want a bright colour.

Thanks, guys, for all the input on the 2008 Skywolf. I've
planned on getting one with the yellow dial, but the washed-out
grey numerals killed that dream. But those pics
of the piece with ther grey dial (or black?) really do look fantastic.
I think that will be my next piece (with steel bracelet) -- unless
I finally take the plunge and get my true dream watch,
the IWC Pilot's Chrono (or Spitfire Chrono) Decisions, decisions. Of
course, if our economy collapses soon, all bets are off.
