I was wondering why Breilting odes not use English terms for the Montbrillant Olympus marketed to North America or other English markets? I notice that some older Navi models do use English month and day terms.

Also, is there a mechanical reason why Breitling didn't put the chronograph hands on one dial rather than adding them to the day and month dials. Although I appreciate the caliber 19 complexity as a work of art, I have to say reading the date is somewhat impractical (or I still have to get used to it as a quick reference).

At a guess, I'd say the use of french wording on the dial is for reasons of tradition - no more than that.

In terms of having the chronograph hands on one sub-dial, I'd have thought that, even if it was mechanically possible, it'd be even harder to read. Having the seconds and minute registers on different subdials is the traditional way of displaying them for the sake of legibility. If you had the seconds and minutes on one sub-dial, when the watch is stopped you may mistake which hand is the seconds and which is the minutes. By separating them, that possibility is reduced.

Yes, I agree that B19 equiped watches tend to have very "busy" dials, but for me that's part of the reason why I like them! :thumbsup:
