Why don't all Breitling authorized service centres in every country around the globe offer the same warranty period for the respective maintenance and overhaul service? This is right from the Breitling website. For example in the US, UK, Australia and Scandinavia the warranty for any intervention is 12 months. In Canada, overhaul service warranty is 24 months and no warranty period is specified for a maintenance service. In the larger EU countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain) and Switzerland, any intervention is covered by a 24 month warranty. Is it consumer protection legislation that determines the length of warranty (in some cases), or something else? dams-r-us |

Breitling offers the 1 year standard warranty. Grigoros (Canadian distributor) decides to extend to 2 years but that's not technically Breitling as they are independent and absorb the cost in the 2nd year. |

Adjusted to whatever the minimum period the law & market condition of the various countries dictate would be my guess... |

Breitling overhauls by Breitling Service Centers have a 12 month warranty on the work done for watches that have the personalized movements. Overhauls of Manufacture movements, have a 24 month warranty, when performed by a Breitling Service Center. IF you go to an Independent dealer, that is authorized to perform work on Breitlings, then you'll receive the same 1 year warranty that you get with non-manufacture movements. This is because at the moment (at least in the US), the only place to service a Manufacture movement is Breitling. |

Any Breitling Authorized Service Centre is Authorized to service inhouse movements if they have an inhouse movement certified watchmaker. This typically means sending their watchmaker off to Switzerland to get trained and certified. It is up to the service centre to decide if they want to justify the investment. |

That may be true in some markets, but not in Canada where Grigoros (distributor and service centre) has been offering 2 years for a long time despite no legal requirement to do so. As the OP says the Canadian service centre, which is also the distributor has been offering 2 years warranty for a long time. |

At least in the US, that isn't the case. Breitling SA in the US is not allowing independent watchmakers to be certified on the Manufacture Movements. |

Wessa was referring to watchmakers at the Authorized Service Centres - d'you mean they're not allowing those to be certified on the in-house stuff (in the US)? Interesting if so. |

In the US there are authorised service centres owned by Breitling (under the BUSA umbrella), and authorised service centres not owned by Breitling. Currently in house movements are always handled by the Breitling owned centres. However, that is not a Breitling SA (Breitling corporate) policy, it is a BUSA policy. In most other countries in the world the watchmakers certified to work on in house movements are not employees of a division of Breitling. They are however factory trained and certified by Breitling. |
