....would be cool. Wouldn't it be kinda neat if they made the SA with the 3,6,9 subdial layout? Maybe even use the B01 movement for it. What do you think?

There was one once. Well, it wasn't a SA, but it was pretty big (at least as big as a CA, but like the SA, made in steel), looked like an SA, and had 3/6/9 subdials:

With Piguet meca-quartz movement:

With Piguet autowinding rattrapante movement, a tryly limited run of only 25, and a $21,000 recommended retail price at the time which was a record for a steel sports watch:

Wow, that's pretty cool. Would be interesting to see if they eventually move this direction (as they have with the Navitimers and Chronomats) going to tricompax layout by putting in a B01 movement.

I thought the chrono avenger rattrapante (my candidate for the 2012 Greatest Breitling ever) was automatic not meca-quartz?

The ratty LE of 25 is automatic (the bottom photo in andrewjt's post is automatic), the LE of 600 (the top photo) is mecha-quartz, with a manual wind chronograph module and (bizarrely given the movement) a display back.
