Post subject: | Emergency transmitter deployment question. |
Hi All, Quick question as per the title.... I'm starting to look at used Emergencies and have noticed sometimes what looks like an orange coloured gasket visible underneath the main antenna screw and wondered if it was significant? So, is there a way to tell if the transmitter has been activated before and if so, what needs to be done to restore functionality? Thanks! |

No real significance, and some are a different colour. If transmitter had been deployed then the antenna would be hanging out and the watch would have to be sent back to Breitling. |

There *should* be a little plastic 'C' clip there, but these are fairly brittle/fragile and can snap and fall off. My Prefesional is fine, but my Mission has lost the little locator part, so spins round (so i can see the red underneath it). It'll get replaced when it's serviced. And if it's been deployed the Professional shows on the display (i believe) and the Mission has one of the subdial hands spinning round. |

OK thanks, it sounds like there's no need to be concerned then..... |

It would still make me twitchy. If an unscrupulous seller cut the antenna wire, could the cap be screwed back on? I guess another way to tell would be put it on the tester. IIRC they only transmit for 24 hours so the battery would be dead if its been activated a while ago |

IIRC they only transmit for 24 hours so the battery would be dead if its been activated a while ago I find it very hard to believe that an activated Emergency would make it to the market place. For a start, it rarely happens that they get activated and secondly Breitling will replace the watch assuming a legitimate emergency. |
