Hi Guys, I just received my first Breitling.

Superocean Heritage 42 in green and black. I liked the watch when I bought it, but have really grown to love it.

I'm still on the fence about the mesh bracelet. I tried it for a couple days and then switched to a generic black leather which I like more.

Here is the problem. It is gaining about ten minutes in a 24 hour period, and after two weeks it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

This is my first Breitling, but my third new automatic watch. Never had any problems like this before.

Should I take this thing into my AD and get it fixed, or wait and see if it "breaks in"?

I'm a little disappointed that a watch that is supposed to be such an incredible timepiece, is having problems right out of the box.

10 minutes a day is FAR too much for breaking in. It needs service. Possible it is magnetized. It should be -4/+6 seconds/day. Running fast while breaking in might be 7 to 10 SECONDS per day.

Definitely get it demagnetised first, if not then that kind of error should be able to be addressed with a regulation.

You haven't by chance been keeping it crystal down overnight?

Same here, mine is 3 months old and runs at +3 s/d. 10 miinutes a day is huge, I'd be curious to know the reason. I'd be surprised if magnetism is the only cause. Let us know what the AD says about it!

Why? Seems like the most obvious reason for such a big error.

My understanding is that magnetism should cause much worse accuracy, up to an hour a day deviation or even more, correct me if I'm wrong, Roff? Before taking it to the AD, maybe bringing a needle-type compass near the watch could show if magnetised.

It's the obvious first thing to check / rule out, esp since it's so easily rectified and it wouldn't mean it being sent off to Breitling for several weeks.

And entirely possible that magnetism could generate this error or less.

I had two magnetised watches that were running 5-10 mins fast per day.

Beware of the iPad covers, the ones with a magnetic strip in the flip part of the cover.
It may be very tempting to use the iPad as a watchPad on the bed side table for the night.

See, this is why I love this place - you learn new stuff all the time!
I've never heard of this before & although don't do so, could possibly see myself doing that with the iPad.

Yep that's a great call; I have one on my Nexus and hadn't thought of it.
