Ouch! Maybe also check out my AD, Geneva Seal on Oak St. They have a watchmaker that does Brielting repairs.

Not sure what advice you are looking for as you did not exactly state that.
Necessary items are a must as Breitling will not do some and not others.
Breitling provide 12month warranty on their service and they need to replace the necessary items in order to provide warranty.
Optional items are simply up to you and difficult for me to tell as I don't know what state the dial and crystal are in right now.

Is that price for repair reasonable or can I get my watch fixed somewhere else at a better price ? Thx

I like to bash Tourneau, but the necessary items cost is not out of line at all. A complete chronograph overhaul costs between $550 and about $750 depending on the complications. It appears you are having a complete overhaul rather than routine service. New pushers, crown , crown stem or tube, etc.. is always extra. So $715 for the work you are having done is not too high.

I do take issue with what they are charging for a new dial - $618. I recently over-hauled a Chronomat Longitude including a new dial. Can't remember exactly how much, but nowhere near $600.

Since they are quoting a new dial, a question that arises is - does this watch have water damage??

Sounds like water damage?
Apart from the new dial cost, those are all expected prices.
I recently got a new dial for my cosmonaute which from memory was $350 + complete overhaul costs.

they didn't tell me the reason for the new dial but i'm not expecting it to be water damage. i'm the original owner of the watch and it's hardly used. i never swam with it or used it in the shower. the only time i have water on it was a little splash from washing my hands on a sink.

they said the dial is optional.

I also should add, in my experience they usually recommend a new crystal (at my last service the service centre rep said "we always recommend a new crystal because we can see tiny scratches under a lupe")... so depends on how you felt the crystal looked before you sent it in. And if the dial was fine, then leave it :-)

If your lume is not compromised and there are no stains on the dial, then there isn't a reason to replace it. If you didn't notice anything wrong with the crystal then no reason to replace that. $700-ish for a complete overhaul on a 13 year old watch that I'm guessing has never been serviced is a correct cost.

About $350 is my recollection for the new dial on my Longitude.

Dial seems a bit high, to be honest I think that the necessary is too low - they haven't quoted for the hands which will also need to be replaced so another $70 or so there.

I thought about the hands, but decided to leave it out. I'm pretty sure a set of hands on a Chrono cost me north of $100. Who knows, maybe Tourneau reuses?

just got more feedback from Tourneau. they said there are a little scratches on crystal and the lume is worn out. $618 for dial is very high i believe

I'll call BS on the lume - even a watch that old should have super luminova (SL) rather than tritium and SL doesn't 'wear out'.
