Hello, all!

I have a Breitling Super Avenger that I've owned since 2008. My question is in the best way to sell the item and have it paid for.

I'll not post pics in this forum area, as I know that there is a buying/selling forum here on Breitling Source for that purpose. I've heard numerous war stories about PayPal always siding with the buyer and sellers being out thousands of dollars, and while I suspect I would not find shady characters on this site, one can never be to careful. On the other hand, I've heard that insisting on a wire transfer makes buyers want to run the other way.

I'm at a loss. I've finally decided that Super Avenger is not getting the wrist time that it deserves recently. I've stopped flying, and just don't seem to wear it as much. I've dealt with Bernard Watch and several others previously, but if you try to sell to a dealer, you always get low-balled and get a third of what the watch is actually worth (if you're lucky). Unfortunately, a meet-up exchange probably won't happen either, as I live in North Carolina, and not in one of the major metropolitan areas like NYC or Chicago.

It really sucks that we have to expect the worst from people these days. How would you guys tackle this?

I think that Fred's post in a very similar topic last week sums it up rather well - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=48991#p353932

I was almost burned once by paypal and since then, I've only accepted wires. I sold a watch to a guy, both of us were verified members of paypal so once paid, Paypal gave me the OK to ship the item. Everything was fine and then 2 months later, the guy files a claim with his credit card company saying it was a fraudulent charge. After a huge headache and a lot of stress, paypal backed me up since everything was verified prior to shipping. I was able to keep the money and paypal was responsible for getting the money from the buyers credit card.

Selling to a dealer will bring you less money, but at times it's worth to reduce the headache of trying to sell something on your own.
